.makes me want to cry.
THIS is how you act, Republicans, IF you are all are the good, God-fearing Christians you all say you are. You welcome them, you do what you can for them; you do not treat them like human trash or pawns, dumping them on others who you just ASSUME are just as hypocritical, mean, and petty as you are and will be just as outraged that they actually have to help other human beings. Marthas Vineyard is living Christs command to treat the least of these as you treat me.
This sad spectacle shows what clowns and charlatans people like Abbott and DeSantis are. It is so gratifying to see this blatantly political stunt become an epic FAIL.
To those on Marthas Vineyard: You are an example to us all of faith, hope, and charity.

(182,904 posts)They have resources you know. And they are clearly kind people.
As my wife pointed out last night- its also an epicenter for high powered rich liberal lawyers and people who know such lawyers. I hope they sue the hell out of the State of Florida on behalf of the migrants.

(31,062 posts)As a human being, the good feeling you get from actually helping out people in need is much stronger and much better than the petty pleasure you can get from imaginary revenge and vindication. So right wingers are just depriving themselves of their own humanity when they do this stuff

(22,574 posts)Energy registers helping others as a good feeling. You have substantial soul to experience this. Abbott and DeSantis don't have the soul element to Mind.

Treating people like human beings and not cattle. Jeeze, what a concept, huh?

The blowback from things like this will be their doom. Hoisted with their own petard.

They both colluded to literally kidnap them and transport them across state lines.
Both FELONIES
They are nothing more than despicable "Coyotes" like the ones sneaking people across the border for money

I hope most Floridians throw DeSatan out as soon as possible. Didn't he barely win the election? I hate to paint all Floridians or even most Floridians as old people who are uncaring about others, but I can't help but feel that it's people like those that live in the Villages who vote for people like him. My son lives in Florida and he's a staunch Democrat who absolutely despises DeSantis. He has a lot of friends in Florida and almost all of them despise him also. Of course his friends tend to be highly educated and vote Democratic. I doubt he has any friends that are Republicans. He has a good friend who is an immunologist and she said DeSantis was the worst governor in handling the pandemic. Remember - he was the one who fudged the numbers of deaths and cases during the height of the pandemic.

(1,296 posts)California may well be getting a larger total of refugees and undocumented immigrants than Florida gets, yet we don't dump them anywhere. In fact, we get dumped into, because most states other than New York like to ship their homeless population here. They call it "greyhound therapy" in the social assistance trade. So we end up taking care of half of the entire country's homeless population, and on top of that most of the immigrants and refugees from the Pacific side. And nobody needs to be sent anywhere else.
Zero excuses for Florida and Texas.
