Donald Trump's own chief of staff was reportedly so worried by the former president's erratic behavior in office that he purchased a book warning about his boss's mental health.
That's according to the forthcoming book, The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021, which debuts Tuesday and has been excerpted by numerous media outlets in recent days.
In one passage, journalists Peter Baker and Susan Glasser report that John Kelly who served as Trump's chief of staff from July 2017 to January 2019 secretly purchased a copy of The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump, a book in which mental health experts warn against electing Trump as president, in the administration's first year.
In an excerpt of the book shared by The Guardian, Baker and Glasser write that Kelly purchased the book "to understand the president's particular psychoses and consulted it while he was running the White House, which he was known to refer to as 'Crazytown.'"

(82,849 posts)Thank you for your service, Mr. Baker and Ms. Glasser. Withholding some pretty important information while getting paid to be a reporter, but now you'd like to be paid for disclosing stuff in a book four years after the fact. Very journalistic. Oh, and making the rounds of all the news shows hawking your book and getting free publicity.
Oh well, it's not like anybody died because of the fecklessness of the former guy's administration. Unless you count those pandemic deaths, but is that even fair? The former guy couldn't figure out a way to monetize a burgeoning pandemic and all of a sudden the infection numbers just exploded before he had a chance to corner the ivermectin market.

And I can never forget the years he spent as Bureau Chief in Moscow. Long enough to become compromised or for there to be KOMPROMAT on him.

(1,127 posts)A bid by Donald Trump to build Sydneys first casino was rejected 30 years ago after police expressed concerns about his links to the mafia.
News Corp revealed on Wednesday morning minutes of the New South Wales cabinet that show police had warned the state government against approving a 1986-87 bid by a Trump consortium to build and operate a casino in Darling Harbour.
Now, under rules that declassify NSW cabinet papers after 30 years, summaries of the various reports on the Kern/Trump bid have come to light.
Atlantic City would be a dubious model for Sydney and in our judgment, the Trump mafia connections should exclude the Kern/Trump consortium, a summary of the police boards report said.
