Every PageAsh Cash Exantus, an African American author from Harlem, N.Y., and one of the top financial educators in the country, was completely caught off guard when he learned from a shocking Instagram video that one of his customers received a copy of his book with a photo of Adolf Hitler inside and Nazi symbols printed on every page.
The memoir, entitled From The Block to The Bank: How to Make the Most of Your Circumstance to Maximize Your Full Potential, was apparently misprinted by the publisher, Lulu Direct, with the correct book cover but the wrong book inside.
Ash Cash says that he was speechless when the customer sent him the video which has since gone viral. He comments, I am a respected scholar and educator that promotes Black entrepreneurship and Black excellence. It is a hurtful slap in the face that my book somehow got confused with another book promoting Hitlers teachings and philosophies.
Even more, why is Lulu even publishing racist books like this in the first place?

(8,387 posts)Because a do-it-yourself publisher, who is basically an outsourced printer for people who can't get a real publisher for their books, made a file error?
It might be a good idea to look at the contract terms first, and determine what the remedies are for that sort of thing.
Since it is basically a print-on-demand "publisher", it is likely limited to this one instance.

(33,643 posts)Either that, or it will turn out to be a hack from somewhere outside. In which case both IT and QA departments will be going thru some things.
Or the original video is faked somehow, wouldn't be impossible with enough skill and motivation.

(8,387 posts)Lulu is one of those "print on demand" vanity publishers with rock bottom rates.
Interestingly, Lulu doesn't even print the content, but merely distributes it under contract to others who print and ship the content:

(33,643 posts)My new assessment is there's a whole lotta ways this particular printing could've gone wrong, at any of many stages of the process.
May be malicious, may just be human error.

A bargain relative to Trump University.
He should make it a prosperity gospel church, since the same thing can be run with less tax overhead. On the other hand, his program might pick up the ones who might not join if it was a church.

(8,387 posts)Because they'll print anything.
It's a vanity publisher for people who can't get books published by real publishers.
You can have your book printed on demand and drop-shipped for dirt cheap:

As far as "why are they even publishing racist books", a look at their general terms pretty much says they publish Nazi stuff:
https://www.lulu.com/terms-and-conditions
Nazi Symbols - Your book cannot depict Nazi symbolism as outlined in the if the content is to be sold in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, or any other country that restricts Nazi propaganda. If a book violating Strafgesetzbuch section 86a (to be sold in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, or any other country that restricts Nazi propaganda) may result in your entire catalogue in being suspended.
So, basically, they say up front "We will publish your Nazi stuff, as long as you don't sell it in countries where it is illegal."
