Abbott is cruel enough that he could have just rounded up brown people at random.

process works in border states. Let's assume they were
processed in and permitted asylum status. What normally happens do they go where the want to go, do so many go to each state, do they need a sponsor or can stay in Texas if they want? I can see why people in the border states would be upset if they have to take in hundreds of people every day.

I believe most asylum seekers (those not yet approved) are held in detention centers if they are in the U.S. when they request asylum. Those are federal detention centers so the people in border states do not bear any burden for them. My knowledge of immigration/asylum law is limited to my understanding of what I have read so I may be totally wrong.

Florida and Texas forced themselves into the process and basically kidnapped the refugees to score political points. Human trafficking basically.

They also purposely gave them inaccurate instructions about checking in and other requirements to stay in the program, which will invalidate their asylum protection. Bastards should burn in hell.
