The problem IS the Republican Party.

Because they are a species without backbones. They have no spine.

If they had a backbone, they would step up and defend our country. Democrats cannot do it alone. When their former president breaks the laws and the norms, they should say something.

But, they are silent.

The present and former Leader is preaching violence, and all we get is silence.

We need more of them to come out and state that if Donald Trump broke the law, then he should not be treated any differently than anyone else.

But, even that, is too much to ask.

The Symptom is the Republican party. The problem is the US voters who put them in power. Why would they speak out? They were voted in to do exactly what they are doing. It's not like they haven't been publicly broadcasting their intentions for 40+ years.

I'd say the antiquated Electoral College is very much working against the interests of the majority of American voters. And repukes in power do everything they can do to gerrmander and suppress the vote.

disagree the EC should be done away with. However the electoral college and how presidents are elected in the US hasn't changed. Same as it it's been every single presidential election. If you ask the entire country "how do presidential elections work" I'd be willing to bet a min., of 60% won't know how to answer or will give the wrong answer. The level of wrong will vary. But none the less will be still be wrong. We can blame this or that or them, bottom line, a whole lot of eligible US voters either don't vote at all, or vote based on insanely incorrect information or are just cult followers because they need someone else to tell them what to do. Republicans didn't get to be the threat they are overnight. They've been out there a very long time. And they have made no bones about what their intentions were.

Some people don't want to seem to admit that their MAGAT neighbors want to walk into their house, take a shit, and rub their faces into it.

It’s frightening!

Can’t halfways sane Republicans see what is happening?

Otherwise they’re gone. I’m sure plenty of them hate all this but they can’t do anything about it or they lose their seat. The old adage about the parties and their respective bases always rings true because, in general, it is.
