General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsSo I heard Majorie Taylor Greene
Refer to democrats that just want to be basket-weavers
And expect people like her to subsidize them.
I lost my shit when I heard her say this on tv the other day.
Considering she has no idea how hard it is to pull yourself back up after you lose a job of 31 years like my husband at age 55
Then myself at age 59
We sure are not basket weaving. Struggling day in day out pay to pay until we can retire in two years.
At age 65 alarm call at 5:00 am each day is hell!

A lot of them-republicans-do not serve us well at all. Some republicans in congress I consider grifters. MTG is a good example.

(10,779 posts)Since she was kicked off all committees and doesn't really do anything resembling work now, basket weaving would be a huge increase in her usefulness and productivity.

(32,095 posts)Why do you think she spews all that garbage constantly? She's not there to legislate. She's there to sow hate and chaos and "own the libs." Mission accomplished.
plimsoll
(1,671 posts)We just either ignore her or get her to say more stupid shit. It depends on whether you want her to shut up or provide more entertainment. Frankly she was effectively neutered as a legislator when she had her committee appointments removed. At this point the only thing she's providing her constituents is "owning the libs." She's not even very good at that, she's a knock off jim jordan without any rhetorical ability.

I HAVE MADE SOME REALLY REALLY NICE BASKETS, AND i DID NOT TAKE A PENNY IN TAXPAYER MONEY WHILST DOING SO.
JUST SAYING- BASKET WEAVING IS A VERY SKILLED ART.
AND IT'S NOT EASY. IT IS VERY HARD ON YOUR HANDS.

I'm also glad she's in office and won't shut up. She is exposing very clearly what the Republicans have become and it's not pretty.
So as much as I want her gone from public view and out of Congress, I realize she's doing a damned good job of making people despise what that party stands for these days, turning us into a fascist hellscape.

(36,301 posts)So, see, you chose to major in Third World Feminist Deconstruction, making it your own fault you are unemployed, because who did you think was ever going to hire you ?
The fact that most people are unemployed because of the vagaries of foreign trade, Uglican legislation which empowers corps over people, rapidly changing technologies, and mergers and acqusitions -- i.e. factors all outside the individual's control -- is brushed aside, and replaced by the simple-minded RW mantra of "it's their own fault they don't have jobs", which excuses doing nothing to help the unemployed, or to address the many real-world root causes of unemployment, either of which might slightly decrease the profit margins of their big donors.
