General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThey were so arrogant, so sure of themselves, so indignant when they attacked women.
The Republicans on the Supreme Court put themselves, their personnel beliefs above everyone else. Look what it has gotten them.
Women organizing across the country. Women in record numbers registering to vote. The Republican Party is in turmoil trying to defend themselves for attacking women. The Republican Party is completely fractured. They should have been in great shape when it comes the November elections. Now the Democrats may hold the Senate and the House.
I have said it many times, extremism always destroys itself in the end.
Alito and Thomas can smirk all they want, they can piss and moan all they want. They can't change the fact they were wrong and they will find out how wrong this November and future elections. Women are not going to forget.

(182,803 posts)It was a perfect one issue voter topic. The true believers started getting elected and taking, frankly, creative measures towards it. It grew within in them until they couldnt stop it. The pro lifers wanted action for all their years of money and effort. Big money got involved and the GOP got what they never wanted.

(4,913 posts)Now the Party is in deep shit. The extremists in the Party will continue to become more extreme and harm the party further.

(16,958 posts)I don't remember extremists shoving pro-choice down our throats back then. There weren't people shooting pro-life spokesmen, or trying to silence schaffley, or picketing churches.
I remember women burning their bras and men burning their draft cards, but that would stick out better, especially since any pro-choice protests didn't make the national news.

(10,170 posts)It was a get out the vote issue. It really wasn't supposed to happen.
Now they lost a really good get voters to the polls issue. All they can do now is promise to double down. They could put on the ballot taking away birth control, a hard one because even GOPers like sex. Taking away a woman's right to vote. Again a hard one because even some women vote for GOPers. They will just have to get even more extreme.

Apologies for caps, but we want a democratic state, not a fascist one. So tired of it.

(10,252 posts)They care only about amassing as much money as possible. If they could reinstitute slavery and feudalism, they most certainly would. They already do their damnedest to keep slave wages in place. And so they resort to fear-mongering about non-whites and non-Christians to keep the working classes voting against their own interests. Still playing the old anti-socialism and anti-communism cards. Calling us extremist radicals.
Did you know that Canada does not allow corporate campaign contributions. Citizens are limited to $1675 per candidate. We have to get rid of these obscene dark money PACs.

Abortion is just a tool, condoms have what a 7% failure rate?
Some of us are super cranked on sexual desires and it is probably people you know, because we are so up tight in this country, check yourself, I am onto to us!
People hate condoms, people lie about politics, you think the mega-handsome silk shirt wearing perfecto in every physical trait super suave guy you just met at a bar could be the one, but you need few test drives to be sure?
Check yourself, and just marvel at the fact there is usually one guy exactly like that in every busy bar!
I haven't been to a bar in 10 years+ YMMV but yeah males are only reason bars exist!
If you can pull off a nonchalant: "Sir/Mame, have you checked yourself lately, things have changed with that clear espionage issue and agents/spies overseas happen to die while TFG was president or since, and that is far too coincidental to be ignored! Your sources are lying to you, and even trained you to think any democrat is evil and a liar, so catch 22 you are, good luck!
I haven't been out and about since March 2020 much at all, like 99% home or at relatives house, but I keep inventing less caustic less gaslighting, less argumentative phrases to use to at least plant a seed in their weary heads, I mean it has to be exhausting dodging all the BS out there on him, from their perspective?
The outlier blasting by the media as normal, beyond puke stage tired of that rhetoric.

And there is not one person alive that has a right to decide when I put my life on the line just the way no 1 else has a right to decide when you or our society and the people who live in it decide to put their life on the line.
And that should be the only thing republicans are hearing from democrats

(56 posts)Rank Choice Voting instituted at every level will transform our current no win 2 party system into a coalition of parties, each focused on an issue, that have to come together to govern in the true interest of We The People. Yes We Can. Also democracy vouchers given to every voter to support individual candidates they choose. Money Out- Voters In.
