RepublicansDemocracy and fascism cannot co exist. Fascism destroys governments, it hijacks them like a virus , gaslights and abuses people. They hate democracy hate the rule of law and our 3 branched government.. Republicans have no loyalty to any country really,no principle like the social contract, rule of law, fair elections or even democracy. Get fascism sociopaths, narcissists and money out of politics. Along with 1 person 1 vote and abolish the electoral college. Keep this fascist minority a powerless minority.

1. Agree. Fascism is destructive, of itself, and sadly, of many innocent victims.
It is cult behavior (which is self-destructive). And IMO, cults share many psychological dark patterns with addiction.
I thought about this, and just let me point to the realization that Ibram X. Kendi got. It's not about "hearts and minds". It's about gaining control and retaining control so that just laws can be passed. https://democraticunderground.com/100216524810 |

2. I didn't want to start a new topic on this.
But seeing your topic about fascist Republicans got me thinking. How on earth do we fix our problems with supposed friends like Chris Hedges?

3. Thanks for the link
Good article.
There needs to be a wealth cap on the rich in this country. Limits on how much an individual &family can own. Anti trust laws must be forced on these rich fascist fuckers. And tax for them at 90% like in the 70's. Get rid of corporate personhood. Get rid of citizens united and for profit prisons. Get rid of the electoral college. If the over wealthy cant buy too many politicians it might be better, reinstate the fairness doctrine and add more teeth to it, and stop price gouging, rein in wall street ,make the left more left and even bolder against inequality and fascism than they are now maybe we'd have a chance against this fascist assholery. But will it happen? Probably not. Even though it needs to happen desperately. |

4. i heard Bernie Sanders on Seth Meyers sounding the alarm about obscene wealth.
But he stopped there. He didn't connects how that wealth is starving us and preventing a healthy economy. If he would eliminate thee percentages from his diatribe and cut to what that gap actually does, we could all benefit.
If that wealth were to actually "trickle down" there would be a modest improvement because there would be investments in the economy. Instead it just sits offshore in tax havens or used to buy back stocks so that shareholders get a piece that ought to go into creating more productive businesses. Invest in America. Not in themselves. Hedges crams so much negativity into his opeds that it actually backfires, IMHO. Plus he only sees Europe as a disaster and says we're making it worse by helping Ukraine. I do hope that there are greedy Capitalists donating to the cause of defeating tyrants like Putin. Or do they actually have tyrant envy? |
