Hurricane politics when a sadistic thug is involved

Let me start this post with the fact I have close relatives in Florida, just north of Tampa. I am as concerned as anyone and am feeling a little bit better as the storm appears on course to miss them with the worst of it. That is not to say I wish harm to anyone else.

That aside, I worry about Desantis. He asked Joe Biden for help. Biden has accommodated so far and I expect he will do more as the need arises.

If anything goes wrong (not sure how that's even possible with a Cat 5 hurricane) I can absolutely imagine Desantis laying off all blame on Bidemocrafemalibwhatever.

I hope Democrats are ready for this. Sadly, while people will suffer, a sadist will do all he can to capitalize on their pain and misfortune.

They have demonstrated over and over they have no regard for the lives of Americans.
In fact they seem to delight in killing, torturing, bullying as many people as possible.

Let him politicize this. The feds will do all they can to help within the bounds of human (and therefore fallible) institutions. Pretty sure, though, that whatever the aid, it will be much more than chucking rolls of Bounty paper towels into a crowd of hurting people.

If that’s not good enough, well then, fuck DeSantis. Pretty sure that will be the response from almost every sane person.

I hope those states that threaten to secede take note of this — good luck trying to survive on their own.

A well-coordinated FEMA response will help Biden's poll numbers; DeSantis can only lose votes if he screws up the state's response.

I often felt calmed, surrounded by all the water. Driving on highways, over water, made the commute so much easier. Watching Desantis’ press conference, he doesn’t give me a sense that he is ready to do the job he is paid to do. You know governor, not auditioning for president.

He’s enjoying this, using it for his re-election. He’s already making snide comments while giving one news conference after another.

have also considered that possibility. Patrick Air Force Base is there and Biden can use them. After Tyndall got obliterated I’m certain the AF has a plan on what to do next.
