I just cannot fathom people voluntarily staying there through this.

I hope you & all are safe.

If you’re in a 1-story house or trailer, or you’re by a beach or canal, it’s madness. If you are in a high-rise further inland… maybe.

My parents had a condo in FL for many years. We had some doozie storms, with the worst being this “no-name” storm that shattered the entire concrete boardwalk down the island like it was play-dough. Friends stayed in the condo during Hurricane Andrew, because due to one’s disability, it just felt saner than evacuating. They reported afterward that they were completely fine, not even a leak. However, they wouldn’t do it again. The walls were vibrating so violently, it was crazy-scary. They also watched the corner wraparound unit finally breach in the wind, and saw furniture literally being sucked out. But, they still felt far safer than if they’d tried hours of evacuation gridlock, with no hotels anywhere in hundreds of miles.

The backside has the worst winds the front the storm surge. They hit you coming and going.

Today the backside was blowing towards land. Surge in Ft Meyer was backside. In the Atlantic the surge will be frontside.

Your video of lining up the kittens is fantastic. I watch it over and over every time you post. Thanks

It's our go-to vacation destination. We were just there last summer and were planning on going back next summer. Hopefully it makes it through the storm OK.
