In the pocket may be due to a number of reasons that are not necessarily directly financial.

Bad people don't have to be paid or blackmailed to do bad things.

It's the last twitch of the uplifting belief all people are good at heart. Not all are.

as well as his own intelligence, Trump might well have that of other nations.

I understand your comment about bad people. I've said it to myself repeatedly. But as someone liberal in temperament (even when a teen in the conservative Midwest) I still find it hard to conceive of evil except as an aberration of normality. Even as an elderly adult who has studied this fellow creatures in history, life, and fiction (I was an English prof.) for well over seven decades, it's a difficult conception (ignoring of course the discernibly mentally imbalanced people like the ones I worked with at mental institutions in the 60s). But "evil" is of such an issue . . .

I get tired of it, too. And I get tired of it in myself, since I know better, but still . . . the concept is so deep that even Baudelaire can't really bring me out of it.

in the public eye. Especially in professions that are supposed to have high ethical standards.

What Cannon is doing is egregious, so it isn't surprising that people wonder why she's doing this.

It should be an automatic disqualifier for government work

Their goal is to destroy democracy and institute fascism

She's already a member. All they had to do was make her the offer of a lifetime appointment. It's a well-paying gig with no real oversight, in return for doing whatever they say.

I honestly do not believe Trump knew any of the judges he appointed before the names were handed to him, save for a few obvious ones.

Many Latin American immigrants - particularly the 'whiter' ones - tend to be desperate for acceptance by those they see as the top of the totem pole.

Which for them, means being WASP and Republican.

(the sad irony being, that no Repug would ever accept them as one of 'them')

Most of Latin America has a caste system - where race equals status, money equals status, and status is everything.

And Aileen? She wants her Mercedes!

You know... when the Judge allowed Weissmann to give information sooo misleading to the Jury that SCOTUS rejected/overturned the conviction 9-0 and the opinion including O'Conner and RBG blasted Weissmann.

You know what I REALLY hate about TFG?

MORE than the corruption and the hate and the bigotry and racism??? More than the cruelty and the lies?

I HATE the fact that enemies of "good" like Andrew Weissmann, Liz Cheney, Steve Schmidt and Adam Kinziger are lauded as HEROES by our side because ONE SINGLE TIME in their life they did the right thing... hating Trump.
