HORRENDOUS!
25 yr old Texas woman denied an abortion after fetus was diagnosed with multiple abnormalities that would be fatal.
The mothers life is in danger now & doctors told her that she can't have an abortion unless she has a stroke or liver failure.

League City family in 'nightmare' situation under Texas abortion law
A pregnant woman shares her story exclusively with ABC13 after learning at 15 weeks that her baby will not survive the pregnancy, but Texas laws will not allow an abortion.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Joy quickly turned to heartbreak for a League City woman and her family.
"She's not only dealing with the fact that she can't even grieve or mourn, that this is what's happening with her child, she also has to deal with the physical (aspect)," explained the woman's sister.
We agreed not to reveal the family's identity given the personal nature of the situation and the family's fear of backlash.
At a recent ultrasound, a 25-year-old woman, excited to be 15 weeks pregnant with her first child, found out devastating news. Her family says doctors told them there's more than a 90% chance the baby will not survive the pregnancy as she has fetal hydrops condition, which is an abnormal accumulation of fluid, as well as Turner syndrome, and other genetic abnormalities.
"They were told that, normally, somebody that would be getting this kind of news would immediately go have an abortion," the woman's mother explained.
The family says they are also concerned about the health of the mother as doctors believe she may be developing what they call Mirror syndrome, which is rare and potentially life-threatening.

by this? Not the woman. Not the fetus.
And what if this were not her first child? Should already born children be deprived of their mother because misguided busybodies insist that the pregnancy continue?

(3,059 posts)And I mean anyone in this situation. An underground is developing in this country. I live in Nevada...if any of my "sisters" need to come for a visit to Vegas for "sight seeing", I can put her up, take her wherever she wants to go, and give her a safe place to recover from her vacation. Anyone who's been here can tell you...Vegas is exhausting.
Damn,these people are evil.

(2,856 posts)In this day and age none of these horrific laws and policies should be allowed much less implemented.
Doctors, nurses and all other medical technicians and personnel should go on strike. I wonder how much medical services Greg Abbott needs as a paraplegic and what he would say if all doctors refused to treat him anymore. It may be a controlled chaos kind of thing but, something drastic needs to be done. These life and death situations forced on good people should never be allowed to happen.
This sickness must be put to an end in this country as soon as possible or it will be our and multitudes of women's death. This warped catering to some stupid religious belief has to stop now! They're only doing it for evilgelicals votes and to shit on women as much as they can, while they can. We have to stop this any way possible!

(10,095 posts)Ultra right-wing religious maniacs who became billionaires through oil and now spend their money turning Texas into Afghanistan. I think at least two of them are also ministers in their backward churches. They spend their money supporting the most right-wing, woman and LGBTQ hating candidates they can find, and it is the money of just these three people that has moved Texas far to the right.
These three also do not believe in public schools and after they get through with laws to persecute LGBTQ, and especially trans kids, theyll turn their money to destroying public education here. They advocate for private Christian schools (following only their brand of extremist Christianity where women and chikdren have no rights and must submit to men at all times) funded by taxpayer dollars. Given that only Christian schools would be allowed, I suppose they think parents of all other religions should just home school or leave the state.
I used to believe that Texas could turn into a Democratic state. I no longer do. Too much right-wing money is ensuring it does not happen.

(3,330 posts)The criminals and murderers are not pregnant people who make the choice to terminate their pregnancy. The ignorant politicians, and legislators who fail the grasp the reality that pregnancy can go very wrong, and become deadly, are clearly the criminals.
Even if it's a "normal" pregnancy the magnitude of its effects on the health and life of someone who is pregnant, going forward may be problematic to their life situation. They should have the option to get an abortion.
These cruel short sighted anti-abortion laws, deny women their right to choose what's best for them. Outlawing abortion, is ill founded depraved.
This poor woman is being held hostage by the fascist, forced birth police. She is experiencing, a life threatening emergency, I hope that she is well enough, and able to go to another state and get the care she needs.

(12,875 posts)Rethug politicians pass these laws to pander to narrow minded religious folk in order to claim the moral high ground -- but the ground they stand on is actually a mound of misery and oppression of women.
To force women to go full term after being raped; girls who are victims of incest; and expectant mothers who discover their fetus is not viable and threatens their own health; is barbaric and evil.
The battle lines are drawn. They must be defeated.
