(42,770 posts)get organized and happen.
But with the news cycle shorter than it's ever been, we need national attention again!! My Republican SIL said she was considering voting blue due to SC & Roe. But that was months ago. Enough time to settle back into her safe political place.

(94,911 posts)Why would a rally influence the 99.99% of voters who won't attend?
dpibel
(2,888 posts)Just for starters.
I've heard that people who never went on a Freedom Ride had their attitudes affected nonetheless.
brooklynite
(94,911 posts)And the average voter isn't tuning in to MSNBC to hear about it.
dpibel
(2,888 posts)Is what the OP said.
Not, as you crafted it, "a two hour [sic] campaign rally."
What, really, is your point?
Protests don't make any difference?
Only large campaign contributions matter?
What?
I'm just guessing.
brooklynite
(94,911 posts)If you attend, you're already committed to vote.
If you don't attend, you're not tuning in to the content of the speeches, so you aren't convinced to vote.
You critique my definition of a "two hour campaign rally"; what do you imagine a "giant pro choice rally" would be? Three hours? Ten? Twenty-four?
And perhaps the fact that said "giant pro choice rally" isn't being organized by any candidate, reproductive rights advocate or Party leader suggests that it isn't as effective a turnout model as the blogosphere thinks it is.

(37,144 posts)The last thing the fascists (republicans, Catholics, haters) wanna talk about is abortion. And only because of control. Not right and wrong. Imagine a Republican involved and discussing leadership, governance or money management. You cant because they dont know how.

(42,770 posts)is shorter than hell now. For once, it would be great if we actually followed up on initial outrage and blew their belief that everything would die down.

(42,770 posts)they flooded trump rally system with fake reservations for his Tulsa rally? Didn't it cause trump to rent an arena? Anyway, some big idea that could make the news. Remind Rs who swore to vote against them for Roe.
electric_blue68
(14,996 posts)the venue VS had more empty seats bc of course those who fake reserved had never intended to show up.
Going to put on my thinking cap a nascent idea for tying the Repugs and Roe together for those encountering the slogan.

(14,996 posts)Besides doing clerical, and accounting clerical work I also
worked in old fashion paste up & mechanicals, graphic design in magazine publishing, and a very small neighborhood arts newsletter.
Spent ?8 months in a very small ad agency doing the paste ups; but it was on Madison Ave.
In fact there when I had some down time I did text & design mock ups for anti-Reagan TV ads.
Way later when I access to Word on computers I designed, wrote campaign flyers (letter paper size) sometimes w drawings I did.for 2 or 3 Presidential campaigns. Put up in my neighborhood, and around two Universities. Sent copies off to a few different States but no replies.
And maybe doing a lot of poetry (thus word smithing) between ,6th grade and through College also helps. On rare occasions I still pen something.

(21,480 posts)the Democratic party heads are behind the 8 ball because the MSM is owned and managed by right wing domestic oligarchs.
People make a big mistake underestimating the power of controlling the narrative, controlling talking points. Democrats need to work harder to beat back what the Magats put out there.
Overturning Roe must be kept on the front page, saving our democracy must be kept on the front page, tying "Republican politicians" to the overthrow of Roe and the overthrow of our democracy must be kept on the front page.
We have a former president who stole classified documents, some of which were the most secret nuclear military-related documents and 90% of people here at DU believe we should just wait until after the election, wait for Christmas, wait until we lose a House of Congress before we get excited.
The insurrection is stronger today than it was on 1/6 2021,

(94,911 posts)In which case the MSM wouldn't be reporting on a pro-reproductive rights rally, so what's the point?

(2,888 posts)How would you characterize the Sulzbergers, Jeff Bezos, and Rupert Murdoch?
Salt of the earth?
Regular Joes?
My kind of people?
They're certainly oligarchs.
So I guess we're just quibbling about whether they're right-wing or not.

(94,911 posts)With the exception of Murdoch, they're interested in making money by reporting the news. I don't accept the common assertion that they're skewing that news reporting for a political outcome.
