1. That's what happens when you don't pay attention in church!

program and I retined more than these morons

2. They hear only what they want to hear

I run into them all the time. They can fling out 5 or 6 verses we all learned in sunday school and claim they "know the Bible". I've read the thing cover to cover several times, so I enjoy flinging quotes right back at them. The shocked looks I get when I tell them "the original Hebrew/Greek for that verse says ... and you're taking a poor translation out of context" are priceless.

I left religion a long time ago for a quiet, no-name, no-need-to-talk-about-it faith. There's "something" out there, but I don't think there's a single human being on earth who knows what "it" is any better than I. For all I know, it's either an ineffable god or some damn lucky 'riffmatick that makes us and the universe go. If there is a godhead, no human can begin to understand it, so why wool on it? I like "live and let live" but that's some vocabulary just unavailable to wackogelicals.
