Right-wing weasel words on CNN

I'm not totally convinced that CNN is shifting to a right bias. That said, I am hawkish on this issue. So today, Kaitlan Collins brought up the Mohammed bin Salman fist bump today. It has already been demonstrated that this is a nothingburger in the post-Covid era where it has unremarkably replaced the handshake for sanitary reasons. Regardless, Jake Tapper parroted her smear as well. I can only interpret this as lazy gotcha journalism at best or right-wing propaganda at worst. Collins also characterized the trip as being unsuccessful in light of the current OPEC situation (paralleling a current Fox News angle). Hmm.

Anyone else keeping score?

just clicks and fake outrage to drive those clicks for their shareholders. The sad thing is this probably going to blow up in their face after the midterms. Look how CNN+ did.

"Brian Stelter, the top media reporter at CNN, is leaving the network after executives decided to cancel his Sunday show, “Reliable Sources,” in one of the first big programming moves under new leadership at the company.

The final edition of the show will be on Sunday, a spokesman for CNN said on Thursday.

The cancellation of “Reliable Sources” — a show that has aired for about three decades — is a striking change by Chris Licht, the new chairman of CNN, who took over this spring after the sudden resignation of Jeff Zucker. Mr. Zucker left after failing to disclose a romantic relationship with another top CNN executive".

Her guest also got in a mention of it.

Four talking heads chattering about it today?

The media pounced on the fist bump. It is being stirred up again this week due to the fact that Biden failed to secure OPEC's servitude to the US.

6. Biden didn't shake hands with MBS. It was a snub designed to show our displeasure

over the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

Reporting what happened isn't right-wing propaganda or lazy gotcha journalism.

President Biden took the risk of making the trip--despite clearly finding it distasteful--because he rightly understood that as president he needs to make every effort to keep stable oil flows during Putin's war on Ukraine.

That trip doesn't seem to have paid off entirely.

Joe Biden did what I believe needed to be done by an American president in the moment. That involved--in part--a fist-bump (in lieu of a handshake).

Reporting what happened in not a smear.

7. Are you asserting that the event in that video is still newsworthy two months later?

Cherry-picking an insignificant event for the bad optics months later isn't my idea of good journalism.

And I'm a Democrat who loves Joe Biden and who thinks he's one of the all-time great presidents.

I happen to prefer many other sources to CNN. Hopefully their standards of journalism are improved under Chris Licht.
