Trump told advisors last year he'd return Mar-a-Lago files in exchange for 'sensitive' documents about the FBI probe of his 2016 campaign's ties to Russia: NYT

John L. Dorman Oct 8, 2022, 1:41 PM

• Trump floated the idea of trading Mar-a-Lago boxes for documents on the Russia probe, per The NYT.

• Aides to Trump did not pitch his proposal to the National Archives, knowing it would be rejected.

• Trump repeatedly delayed the agency's calls for him to turn over the boxes, per the newspaper.

Former President Donald Trump late last year floated the idea of swapping the files that he took from the White House to Mar-a-Lago in exchange for "sensitive" documents about the FBI investigation of his 2016 campaign's ties to Russia, according to The New York Times.

Plus I think this is also bullshit. TFG is using this for an excuse to his idiot base as to why he STOLE documents.
/I needed them to clear my name, because the deep state is trying to ruin me/.

If he runs, this will be the slant: I stole the docs to protect myself from the persecution of the deep state.

Of course... he STOLE them in order to monetize them. PERIOD.

If the NARA had all the files on the Russia probe while he was pResident, he could have sent AG Barr or any of his hand-picked Attorney-Generals to retrieve them. Why didn't he?

Why, all of a sudden, is he so interested in the files about the Russian probe? Is there something in there that he doesn't want the people to see?

He told his last rally that it was a simple "negotiation" with the National Archives.

Would they prove that the Russia probe was a "hoax" or would they prove there was something going on between Trump and the Russians?

There was never any negotiation or bargaining to be had in this situation. None of the documents belong to him. They never did. They never will. Lock him up.

He mostly got away with his financial and tax fraud, and money laundering through his real estate and casinos, and would have continued doing so if he had not run for president and committed even more crimes right out in the open.

He has such a sense of self-importance, especially since he’s been given extraordinary deference as an ex-president, that he probably thinks that he truly is above the law and will be able to prevent any criminal prosecutions. He may be right.

strongly suspects he was caught being the deviate that some believe he is? And he wants to know what Putin may know. Hope the archives never loans those documents to him -- he'll never give them back. He'll bury them under the new parking lot he builds at one of his properties.
