Sandy Hook families suggest $2.75 trillion in additional damages to punish Alex Jones’ ‘evil conduct’
NEWTOWN — Lost in the headlines when eight Sandy Hook families and an FBI agent won a $965 million defamation jury verdict against Alex Jones two weeks ago was that a second potentially substantial judgment would be decided to assess punitive damages against Jones.

‘[T]he evidence shows that (Jones and his parent company Free Speech Systems) violated (the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act) 550 million times, at an absolute minimum,” reads an argument by the families’ attorneys to Superior Court Judge Barbara Bellis, who will decide what punitive damages Jones must pay the families. “If each of the 550 million violations were assessed at the $5,000 statutory maximum, the total civil penalty would be $2,750,000,000,000.”
