both as an actor and a director for quite some time. He just couldn't control his mouth or his drinking. As with so many celebrities who are full of themselves, he went too far, too often.

As for Kanye, I remember the first time I heard he was worth $2 billion. I was mind-blown. Maybe a less wealthy Kanye might be a bit less obnoxious. Probably not, but I'm sure that vast wealth just feeds his enormous ego.

6. That's not quite how Net Worth works.
Tue Oct 25, 2022, 04:03 PM
Oct 2022

And I'm not sure why the article would make that mistake.

Forbes has estimated that the deal was worth about $1.4 billion, and West’s net worth around $2 billion; without Adidas, he’s allegedly worth just $400 million.

That's poorly written and unless West HAD the $1.4 Billion in the form of shares or funds invested in his name, the contract is just that - a contract. It isn't money in his pocket until he gets paid and it can't be counted as his NET worth (keyword "Net" )

I absolutely agree with your last sentence though.

Fuck that dopey asshole.

Tue Oct 25, 2022, 06:26 PM

A voidable contract is not considered an asset from a GAAP perspective. That is, unless the contract is fully guaranteed & pretended.
Otherwise, every manufacturing corporation with supply contracts with major suppliers would have that value on the balance sheet as an asset.
But, the product doesn't yet exist & hasn't been paid for yet.
I learned this both in MBA school & working with accounting folks on cost reduction projects for 20+ years.
An asset has to be material and have intrinsic value. In my field, things like real estate, buildings, reactors laboratory hardware are included.
2022-2025 supply contracts aren't material until money changes hands, but that's revenue not an asset, unless the company shoves all of it to banks (cash) & equity investments.

Tue Oct 25, 2022, 06:21 PM
Oct 2022

as every time his name shows up in the news, it is because he has done or said something really obnoxious or offensive. The first time I noticed him was when he said, "George Bush doesn't care about black people" after Katrina. Then there was the time at the Grammys when he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech in 2009:

When Swift was awarded the moon man for Best Female Video for "You Belong with Me" in 2009, West climbed the stairs to interrupt Swift's acceptance speech with the now-infamous proclamation, "Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!"

So, though he is famous for his music, he is really more famous for "being a complete asshole" as you said, and having been married to Kim Kardashian. I am so tired celebrities who are famous for being famous and really contribute nothing.
