General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsOn Twitter, I just saw several tweets by a user exposing himself.
I reported them, but I wonder how the Musk regime will handle them. I'm not confident they will.

Usually just gets tagged with that, "May contain sensitive content" thingy you have to click to see it.
I've heard about it in stories.

(9,141 posts)50% of my Twitter feed is attractive men and contestants from Drag Race.
It's been my running assumption that that's the most productive use of the platform.

(4,762 posts)It's marked "explicit" and you have to click through to see it, but there is definitely hardcore, XXX, full and explicit penetration on Twitter.
Now, if it wasn't flagged as explicit, that's a different issue.

(9,141 posts)Well, there are worse things to learn in the course of the day.
People fleeing Tumblr had to go somewhere.

(9,088 posts)I clicked on it to see why and there was a bunch of porn. Nothing was blurred or labeled explicit.

(34,491 posts)I realized they usually use key words or a hashtag in front of a word or phrase. I was reporting them at first but it does no good. It's an innocent search and there it is.

Tumblr used to be "the" pornatorium, people say. )
One or more recent owners was scared off by recent legislation.
Seems that they lost a lot of views when the porn went away.
Can't imagine why

(3,370 posts)Twitter has allowed nudity and porn for years. Many porn stars utilize Twitter as a way to drive traffic to their OFs and other sites. It's one of the only mainstream social media platforms that allows them to do so explicitly.

(11,391 posts)that there's probably a deluge of 'quiet quitting' among the ranks of Twitter employees. In other words - the rules are still in place (Musk said 'no change' prior to review, from what I heard) - but a whole lot of human 'filters' are just saying "screw it." "This is what you want? Have at it!"

(9,141 posts)I'm kind of delighted that people genuinely didn't know this.
It's so . . . innocent? I dunno. It's just kind of happily amusing in a way. There is so, so much porn on Twitter.
Place is filthy.
stopdiggin
(11,391 posts)that simply do not know. My exposure is almost entirely right here on DU.
My comment might apply though to other types of 'rough' content that appears to have ramped up? (we've heard reference to an explosion of 'n' word usage?)
But, again - all guess work on my part.

(34,086 posts)i reported him and i remember twitter just shrugged.
i was surprised they didn't kick him off or delete his account. i can't remember if they took down the tweets or not. i didn't realize it was okay with porn.
i still didn't realize it until i read some of the posts on this thread tonight. and i'm on twitter every day -- but i'm really only reading and posting on political posts/threads and following people like jeff tiedrich.

(7,284 posts)Go to ... More > Settings and Support > Settings and Privacy > Privacy and safety > Content You See, then make sure Display media that may contain sensitive content is unticked
That will hide some types of content, e.g. sexual or violent.
That may not block every rando displaying himself unexpectedly, but then I doubt I'd see him doing it twice uninvited, and I'd have probably blocked and possibly reported him the first time.
IIRC, you can also set your age as far as Twitter's concerned, but I can't recall where that setting is at the moment. Set it so Twitter thinks you're a minor, and that should put up another barrier.

(4,762 posts)Sex isn't for pleasure, it's to make babies. Anything that isn't done according to that end is against Sky Fairy's will and is undesirable.
I'm not really kidding, that's how these people think.

(7,284 posts)But I guess there was a chance it might have been alerted on, in which case you take your chances with a jury.
I thought heading my reply with "Dear DU admin" rather than going straight to an alert or PMing admin might have been enough of a clue that it was satirical. I could have written more in a suitably outraged tone, but I felt that would be labouring a throwaway quip and I have better uses of my time.
On the other hand, it's quite amusing that you thought I was being serious.
It's also amusing that anyone reading this thread now will be left wondering WTH you posted!
