Rude One to Elon: It's also free speech to say: I don't want to advertise on Elon's Nazi safe space

You know, it's also free speech for a company to say, "Nah, I don't wanna advertise on Weird Elon's Nazi safe space"

Twitter has had a massive drop in revenue, due to activist groups pressuring advertisers, even though nothing has changed with content moderation and we did everything we could to appease the activists.

Extremely messed up! They’re trying to destroy free speech in America.

That advertises on a platform that supports vile hateful speech?

Would it be "cancel culture" to prohibit the speech of those who call for boycots?

"The Platonic Permutation" features a guest appearance... Elon Musk as himself. .... Critics praised Sheldon and Amy's storyline, but were critical of the other two subplots and of Musk's appearance.

because the latter has had some serious consequences, the most recent of which is an attack against an 82 year old man in an attempt to kidnap and assassinate the Speaker of the House, third in line for the presidency.

I am a free speech fundamentalist, but I know it applies to individuals, not to websites that give it the veneer of legitimacy. Twitter is such a site, one of the largest worldwide since its format can be easily accessed by those with smart phones but no computer. It bears responsibility for the megaphone it supplies to hate obsessed crazy people.

At this point I'm not terribly worried it will turn into a Nazi sink because it looks like you're doing everything you can to destroy it, given your policy toward their labor force, firing most of them and expecting the rest to have no lives outside work. Good luck to you and the Red Sox on that one.

Still, if you moderate your anti labor policies and the site somehow survives, with the power of ownership comes responsibility. The lawyers you keep on retainer will be all too willing to tell you about that. Listen to them.

Elon is shouting to the highest mountain for what a year that he will change things. When you're the CEO advertisers tend to listen and believe you. Nothing immediately might have changed, but the new boss has promised change, massive change, and companies have listened. It's a little late to promise everything is going to be the same.

Their speech is free, ours is anti-free-speech speech.

The elections they win are honest, the ones they lose are fraudulent.

It's ok to picket planned parenthood clinics but not to stop advertising on a fascist social app.

It's ok to attack Mr. Pelosi with a hammer but not okay to criticize right-wing calls for violence.

Its ok to violently invade the Capitol Building to halt the constitutional election process, but it's not ok to protest against police brutality and for Black Lives Matter.

The story Dipshit referred to was a fringe rag known to prints lies which this obviously was. Legit news sources discovered this almost immediately and if this bastard has used his resources he'd have known it.
But this fucking idiot would rather blabber about lies than see if he's telling the truth. His ego can't stand to be out of the limelight.

I think he should be sued for libel. God knows the hatred his version of Twitter will spew out and users, with few exceptions, will have yet another outlet.

And this SOB bought this outfit. Print papers have been sued for libel for a couple of centuries now so let's all throw this creep a digital info age party and everybody he's defamed should sue. With this loose cannon more will come

And one more thing. For being the richest man in the world you'd think he'd have found a better plastic surgeon. He looks laughable.

“Free speech” means nothing to them. They just use it as a means to an end. Most of the far right freely admit to their followers that they would do away with the first amendment when they reach critical mass and have enough power.

38. Per WaPo, many companies have stopped advertizing on Twitter
Sat Nov 5, 2022, 01:19 AM
Nov 2022
https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/11/04/twitter-layoffs-explained/

"Which companies have stopped advertising on Twitter?
A broad international cross-section of major corporations have pulled their advertisements, or at least paused ad campaigns. They include:
Automakers Ford, General Motors and Volkswagen, including its Audi brand
Cereal and snack companies General Mills and Mondelez, the corporation behind Oreos, Ritz crackers, Sour Patch Kids and others
Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer
International ad and consulting firm Interpublic, which represents American Express, Coca-Cola, Fitbit, Spotify and dozens of other major corporations.

Activists are seeking to apply pressure to other companies to cut off their ad buys on Twitter until Musk reins in spreading hate speech and conspiracy theories. After meeting with Musk, NAACP President Derrick Johnson on Friday called on advertisers to abandon Twitter.

“When we met with Elon Musk, he made commitments that gave us cautious optimism, but until actions are taken to make Twitter a safe space, corporations cannot in good conscience put their money behind Twitter,” Johnson said in a statement. “Twitter must earn its advertisers by creating a platform that safeguards our democracy and rids itself of any content or account that spews hate and disinformation.”

Those are big advertizers. It's only a week and the idiot has already driven the money stream to a trickle. Good luck with keeping a company he overpaid for and trying to recoup money he lost with ludicrous business tactics.
