(5,256 posts)They're going to do RCV - ranked-choice voting. This is how Mary Peltola won the special and became what I suspect will be an Alaskan institution for a long time.
The margin is small and I'm pretty sure the large majority of supporters of the other candidates ranked Murkowski as their second choice.

(24,528 posts)intent. LePage would never have been elected in Maine, had RCV been implemented before he split the vote of 62% of the voters to win the ME Governorship with 38% of the vote in 2012{?}. Not only that, but it precludes expensive run-off elections like we've seen in Georgia. Everyone who votes in the actual election doesn't have to vote again in the runoff....which will typically be a much smaller voter base. I hope all States make RCV a part of our voting future. Then you can vote for your heart for your 1st choice, but accept the results of your second choice.

(5,256 posts)The correct example of LePage assuming office is a fantastic argument for RCV that stands all by itself. No further persuasion needed!!

(5,104 posts)One can assume her voted will go to Murkowski 42.7% (that with 75% reporting) in ranked choice.
