Judge who signed no-knock warrant for Breonna Taylor's home loses reelection

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The judge in Louisville who signed the no-knock search warrant on Breonna Taylor's home was ousted from office on Election Day.

Mary Shaw lost to Tracy Davis in the race for the position of Circuit Court Judge, District 30, 5th Division.

Shaw was the judge who signed the falsified warrant in March 2020 that led to the raid on Taylor's apartment and her subsequent death.

In August, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland announced federal charges against four Louisville Metro Police officers in connection with Taylor's death.

She was the only incumbent judge challenged in the 2022 midterm election.

Davis defeated Shaw by the slim margin of 50.59% to 49.41% —

Matter of fact, get rid of no knock warrants for low level crimes period. It’s one thing if you are looking for a murderer, or drug king pin. That has not been the case for any of these tragic no knock warrant cases.
