With control of the U.S. House of Representatives up for grabs Tuesday, all eyes in Maryland were on the 6th District, which was shaping up to be among the closest races in the state.

Republican challenger Neil Parrott, a long-time state delegate had opened up a narrow lead over Democrat David Trone, who’s running for a third term.

As of early Wednesday, with several thousand mail-in ballots still to count, Parrott was leading Trone by 51% to 49%. The vote margin was about 4,500 votes.

Then MD did some jerrymandering to convert it to a D. The 2020 census redistricting was put through the courts and they forced the district to be more balanced. Thus it is now a toss up since it includes less of the blue areas of MD.

Basically blue states fight fair and with one hand tied behind the back while red states jerrymander to the max (TN, TX, FL).

Parrott: 102,669 (51.1%)
Trone: 98,122 (48.8%)

69% counted. Hopefully the mail-ins and dropboxes are from Upper MoCo, which tends to be Dem.
