I'm calling it right now, Trump is going to start his own political party

If the rumors about the last few house on "Truth Social" are true, Trump just declared war on Ron DeSantis. He's terrified if DeSantis and the Republicans have to be wondering what Trump even brings to the table, at this point. I think we are about to see Trump's messiest divorce yet. There's no way he doesn't star his own MAGA Party after that. I feel there's a not insignificant chance that Trump is going to lead the GOP to total ruin.

RNC caved before after Jan 6th to his extortion threats, even agreeing to pay his legal bills to keep him from starting his own party. RNC has said they will no longer pay his legal bills if he announces run. My guess is he thinks he can get Repubs to cave again and pledge to support him for re-election rather than DeSantis and keep paying his bills or else he wreaks havoc on the party.

Some of them think that dad doesn't know where Chuck E Cheese is, or even if there's one anywhere near here. Next thing, they're going to start saying that dad's cred cards are maxed and he can't, no way, afford to go to Chuck E Cheese.

They're getting downright surly back there.

I have felt for some time tectonic plates moving.

Yes there is a battle for control of the GOP.
(Basically I think it is Trump vs McConnell?)

Today I read a post calling for Dems to align with moderate GOPs.
(BTW I took issue with this idea, but that is another story.)

So going with your theory, the GOP splits in two.
Trump brings to the table a large MAGA base.

So what happens then?

Does the GOP self destruct?
Does the Dem party incorporate GOP moderates?

Or does the GOP become two separate parties and the US becomes a three party system?
Certainly that cannot work for the GOP??

I keep triangulating the political pieces in play and cannot make it all fit yet.

22. Reason why McCarthy/MoscowMitch flipped from condemning TFG to supporting TFG-threat of third party
Thu Nov 10, 2022, 08:09 PM
Nov 2022

Do you remember shortly after January 6 insurrection when MoscowMitch and Kevin McCarthy both condemned TFG on the floor of the Senate and the House? Keving McCarthy then went to Mar-a-Lago and swore fealty to TFG and MoscowMitch just went silent on TFG. There are a ton of articles which express amazement at the fact that McCarthy and MoscowMitch flipped on TFG when they first condemned TFG's role in the Jan. 6 insurrection and then changed their stories and started ignoring TFG's role in this attempted insurrection. These articles seem surprised that so many republicans went from condemning TFG to praising him. To me, the main reason for this flip is clear.

After being attacked and condemned by McCarthy, MoscowMitch and other republicans for his role in the attempted coup, TFG started discussing forming a new political party that would in effect kill the GOP's chances in future elections.

If TFG formed his Patriot Party, that party would draw a significant percentage of the GOP base and would kill the GOP's chances in future elections. Rather than risk facing a new TFG sponsored third party, the GOP caved.

There is no real mystery as to why McCarthy and MoscowMitch changed their positions. A TFG sponsored third party would hurt the GOP in the midterms and would ensure that the Democratic candidate would win in a presidential contest. That may be in party the reason why the RNC is still paying TFG's legal bills.

Now that Murdoch and the sane GOP members are turning on TFG, TFG is going back to the concept of forming his own party. I think that this is a bluff. It takes a ton of money to get onto the ballot in most states. Kanye West spent a ton of money and only got onto the ballot in a handful of states and Kanye was aided by GOP consultants who knew the law. TFG would have to start from scratch.

Again, TFG is too lazy and there are too many lawsuits pending against him that should rendered TFG too poor to form a third party.

He needs the RNC to keep paying his legal bills.

He needs a GOP House (if that happens), to harass the DOJ as much as possible.

At most he will just use the threat to maintain the scams.
