I think it's a legitimate question to ask ourselves, especially with the increasing role of our young voters.

The most democratic method for selecting Democratic candidates is the primary. We have this already.

2. I think it depends on the individual. Age is a continuum. Even 40 yos can develop early dementia.

Any age threshold sans any other factor isn't just a bigoted approach, but a self-defeating approach in terms of experience, understanding of historical tactics, and potential. I'm thrilled Gen-Z elected one of their own in Florida. That is heartening. It is not proof that any individual over 40, 50, 60, 70 or whatever should be blocked.

That said, Feinstein has shown some symptoms that worry me. I do think Schumer and leadership will need to take her aside and deal with that in a sensitive manner. An individualized approach.

4. Not only should age stop Grassley but that he was in on the 1/6/21 coup should have done it too.

I think that was a horrible mistake on his part. His only chance to win was to upset the apple cart. The GQP clowns can get away with making false and insane claims without any pushback, why can't our candidates bring up these questions in the form of accusations?

The Democratic party keeps bringing butter knives to a gun fight. If you supported the 1/6/21 coup,
spent the 4th of July in Moscow, or voted to let Tump off the hook for trying to help Putin's war in

be in the American Government.

14. Yes I didn't follow the Johnson election

but Johnson was one of the worst Senators in that whole mess (which is saying something) and he had no accountability either.


That very well could have taken both Sinema and Manchin off the board. It is a frustrating loss. Johnson was in a much weaker position than Grassley (my fellow Iowans are brain dead when it comes to him).

5. Wisdom is knowing when it is time to step aside

Leaders stepping aside whether it is age, passion for the job, etc. is necessary for growth in the company, a community activity, a political office. The leaders in our Dem party are old. (So am I) It doesn’t mean they aren’t good at their job but they are old. We have excellent people a decade - and decades - younger. It is time to let them assume leadership roles. If the old guard has done their job, they have been grooming the younger members for the leadership tasks at hand.

From personal experience I can attest to how hard it is to step aside from a couple of wonderful leadership roles. But it was the right thing to do - and yes I was able to help my much younger replacement gain the experience he needed for the task at hand. He did great!!! And in truth, the organization is better for it. And me? I found some exciting new things to do. Life is good!!

That seems the best place to continue your public service without the daily stress of being an elected official. Of course these presupposes that the Democrats win the presidency in 2024. Otherwise her ambassadorship will be short service.

17. Dianne Feinstein who I admire, respect, and adore is very unlikely to run for another term.

Her act of "filing" is a technical necessity to maintain the legal standing of her campaign committee.

This filing ought not be used to suggest that she's intending to make another run.

I hope people think twice before bashing an outstanding Democrat.
