Gov Abbott decided there's an "invasion" akin to Putin invading Ukraine

Notice the use of the term, "invasion". He thinks it's his Golden Ticket to act on behalf of the entire nation according to the 14th Amendment, despite Congress not giving him permission to do so.

"In my Executive Order GA-41, I invoked the Invasion Clauses of Article I, § 10 of the U.S.
Constitution and Article IV, § 7 of the Texas Constitution to fully authorize Texas to take
unprecedented measures to fight back against the invasion at our border. As Governor of Texas
and commander-in-chief of its military forces, I am using that constitutional authority, as well as
other authorization and Executive Orders to:

• Deploy the National Guard to safeguard our border and to repel and turn back immigrants
trying to cross the border illegally;
• Deploy the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to arrest and return to the border
immigrants who crossed illegally and deploy DPS to arrest illegal immigrants for
criminal activity;
• Build a border wall in multiple counties on the border;
• Deploy gun boats to secure the border;
• Designate Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations;
• Enter into a compact with other states to secure the border;
• Enter into agreements with foreign powers to enhance border security; and
• Provide resources for border counties to increase their efforts to respond to the border
invasion."

Greg and Deathsantis are in a competition to see who is the biggest asshole. DeathSantis is polling better than Greg and so Greg has to find a new stunt to attempt to top DeathSantis

2. Agree. Are there any other governors to out-nazi these two?

Unfortunately, governors can pull off large scale, and very destructive stunts, and they do.

4. Looks like Abbott has over-stepped Article 1 Section 10 of the Constitution

Which precludes states acts with foreign policy implications as the exclusive realm of the federal gov't.

Of course, this should surprise no who grasps that there is a conservative goal of usurping and destroying the federal gov't.

We're just surfing down the slippery slope now. First they complained about the Fed govt, then they disregarded it, with Dobbs they found a mechanism to crash established Federal law and hand power to radicalized states.

This is merely the next phase of the developing power grab... to push federal authority and federal agencies aside so that they can puff-up their macho as little generals in a border conflict with Mexico.

States don't have the right to create agreements with foreign powers, that's clearly precluded by the Constitution. Constructing a border barrier, and repelling immigrants with force pretty clearly has foreign policy implications.

5. Calling immigration and drug traffic an 'invasion' doesn't make it so.

It's just more of the political practice of forked-tongue wordplay.

Either
- Send them to Florida to help with recovery
- Send them to S. Korea to support US forces there
- Send them to Ukraine to help with recovery
- Send them to Alaska to help with protecting US Forces against aliens
