I saw Hamilton Live at the San Diego Civic Theater last night...

I've seen the Disney+ video of Hamilton multiple times, so I knew what to expect.

But the song that makes me cry everytime I hear it is when George Washington sings "One Last Time", where he tells Alexander Hamilton, that he's no longer running for President and to write a speech to teach future Presidents how to say goodbye "One Last Time".

I cry because it reminds me that we had an idiot President that never learned this lesson. The fact that the idiot wants to run for President again, is a complete insult to all previous Presidents who did say Goodbye, "One Last Time".

And of course I cried again last night.

When Christopher Jackson finished, Obama shook his hand and told him "Thank you for teaching me how to say goodbye".
Then Christopher Jackson cried on Anthony Ramos's (John Laurens & Phillip Hamilton) shoulder for an hour.

My friend Hector told me to write this as a form of therapy.

We’ve had our terrible times — and we’ve been blessed with som exceptionally good men and women along the way: Obama, Biden, and Pelosi among them.

unbelievably powerful. One of those shows where you wonder just how the hell they came up with all of it. Astoundingly creative...

It's such a moving song about grieving. Also, "You'll Be Back" is way fun.

I love how everyone names a different song as their favorite.

Both Hamilton & Burr sing to their newly born children. I think it perfectly captures the feelings of awe and profound love new parents experience at that time.

While I have the original soundtrack from the play, and I know all the songs oh so well (from listening to it over and over on my commute before retirement hit me in the face).... I didn't realize how deeply this song had affected me.

Yes, I had tears as I listened to it. As I saw the Grace from former President Obama. (God I miss him). I had tears because the peaceful transfer of power is /so/ important to our Democracy. And what happened in the recent past... It just riled up my Patriotism oh so much!

I sent the link to my (81 year old) mom on facebook (she has seen Hamilton on Disney+. In fact, that is why I subscribed to Disney+), and when I was telling her what link I sent her is about, I could hardly even choke out the words "It is about the Peaceful Transfer of Power". I was /so/ emotional about it. I saw this years ago when it came out, but hearing and seeing it again effected me profoundly. Mom was concerned about my emotionalism. Asked if my hormones were off. (I'd be offended if it was a man asking me). No, not hormones, it was Love of Country, and How Close We Are to losing our Democracy. Yes, we beat them off this year. But Next Year, I know we will be Tested Again.

Thank You aggiesal! For bringing this back to the forefront.

Replace Red MAGA Hats with Blue Hats that say: Make Lying Wrong Again!!!

Thank You, and Good Night!

14. I don't know if how they portrayed it in Hamilton was how it really happened ...

but if it is, it shows how prophetic George Washington was.

HAMILTON: Mr. President, they will say you’re weak
WASHINGTON: No, they will see we’re strong
HAMILTON: Your position is so unique
WASHINGTON: So I’ll use it to move them along
HAMILTON: Why do you have to say goodbye?
WASHINGTON: If I say goodbye, the nation learns to move on
It outlives me when I’m gone.

This is all about the transfer of power.
When it is done properly, it shows the world how strong we are.
And because of 2020, it showed the possibility of weakness.
Even the rest of the world is wondering why Pendejo45 is not in jail if he caused the insurrection.

We passed the 2022 test, but we have to be 100% perfect (I know it's redundant).
They only have to be correct once and we all lose.

And when I was trying to explain to my mom that it was about the Peaceful Transfer of Power, I couldn't even get the words out! Why? Because WE ALMOST LOST THAT! *sigh*.

We can't let our Guards Down. There is so much Work to do. Lets Start with stopping Partisan Re-Districting! Across the Board!

MAKE LYING WRONG AGAIN! (I'd LOVE to see this as the new Democratic Bumper Sticker)
