Right-wing pastor celebrates Club Q massacre as 'good thing' in hate-filled sermon

A Washington state pastor celebrated the mass shooting last weekend at an LGBTQ nightclub that left five people dead.

Aaron Thompson, of Sure Foundation Baptist Church in Vancouver, said the massacre was a "good thing" and falsely claimed the victims had been molesting children, although he walked that back moments later by saying their had only been looking at children in an inappropriate way, reported Only Sky.

"Am I sad that five homos got shot?" Thompson said Tuesday in a sermon. "No, I’m not sad at all. As a matter of fact, I think it’s a good thing that they’re not here anymore to molest kids."

The gunman opened fire during a drag performance, which have become a target of conservative outrage, but the event at Club Q in Colorado Springs was not open to anyone younger than 18, unlike child-friendly "drag queen story hours" hosted by many libraries.

This event has been horrific and traumatizing for the GLBT community, please do not compound that misery with presumptive accusations this pastor is a "secret gay"! Plenty of people who hate queer people are STRAIGHT, accept this.

of right wingers changing their choice of narrative on mass shootings.

They are trying out victim blaming, based on a twisted view of "Morality"...I've seen several take this position on this shooting.

And no, the guy isn't secretly gay, he is openly a hate-filled asshole.

What this tactic does is show us who the right wing has decided to be going forward. Apparently, nothing excites their base like violence and hate.

Whenever there is an article about a rapid homophobe, well, a male one, there are always some, and sometimes it snowballs into many, who imply the reason for the homophobe's actions/comments are because he is really a self-hating gay person. This is a tired trope, but gets bandied about way too often, and it is distressing.

But here’s what I won’t be upset about: I’m not going to be upset when someone that hates God and actively is promoting against God, and hates His guts, and molests children, even if it is just their eyeballs, to have to see these freaks writhing around and, and, and, you know doing all these crazy dances in front of children and then afterwards reading them a book or something."

Are raped by those who most claim to love this nitwit's cosmic space buddy. See: Catholics. See: Baptists. See: Orthodox Jews. See: Well, that list will be quite long. Seems like every time we turn around, one of the religious centers is wrangling with child rape allegations.

Meanwhile, Richard Dawkins is never even whispered about as a child rapist. You know that if the religious could pin it on him, they would have done it long ago--and never shut up about it. But they can't. You know it drives them nuts that they can't make that defamation stick.

Maybe they need to clean up the child rape problems behind their own doors before accusing those who want nothing to do with their space buddy of things that just aren't so.

Did you read the book?

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

--Matthew 5:18

In plainer English (NIV):

For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

This is one letter of the law he would be referencing:

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

--Leviticus 18:22

And here's another:

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

--Leviticus 20:13

Those are the laws he's talking about. Not another religion's laws, or Roman laws or any other secular law or laws of the universe or whatever. He's talking about the law as laid down in the Torah.

So, yes, he did have something to say about the issue, however indirectly.

But we saw what happened in Wisconsin and I don't think we'll see the fallout from that verdict until we see mass demonstrations against the police again.
