Here's Why Trump Went Full Nazi

Last edited Wed Nov 30, 2022, 12:53 AM - Edit history (1)

Trump invited two rabid antisemites to the White House (my add, I think the author means Mar-A-Lardo), Kanye West and Nick Fuentes. Why? The answer is bleak.

https://thebanter.substack.com/p/heres-why-trump-went-full-nazi

by Ben Cohen

In The Banter Roundtable Podcast, we have long discussed the need to talk about Holocaust denying, White Supremacist Nick Fuentes. I argued recently that Fuentes would become a big MAGA star and would in time be totally normalized by the GOP. As Justin has often reminded me, what is considered extreme on the right today will almost always be normalized tomorrow. Fuentes, I figured, fit this formula exactly. The rabid Jew hater is young, incredibly stupid, and extraordinarily confident. In the MAGA world, this combination of traits is a perfect recipe for stardom. Figures like Milo Yiannopolous, Candace Owens, and Marjorie Taylor Greene have paved the way for the rise of Fuentes, and he only needed the Orange stamp of approval to become a bonafide MAGA star. This, I figured, would only be a matter of time.

So when the news broke that Donald Trump had invited America’s most prominent anti-semite Kanye West and none other than Nick Fuentes to Mar-a-Lago, I wasn’t surprised at all. I was in fact, kind of relieved. Why? Because I have always known that anti-semitism is one of the major driving forces behind the MAGA movement, and that Trump was almost certainly an anti-semite himself. Trump has flirted with borderline antisemitic statements in the past, but has always been quite careful (at least for him) about openly hating Jewish people. Now he is openly palling around with virulent Jew haters just as he begins his ‘Make America Great Again, Again’ campaign.

This is a good thing in my opinion, just so we can be clear about what we are facing this time around. A more serious question though, is why Trump decided to invite two of the most repellent political/cultural figures in America to Mar-a-Lago for a chinwag? I spent a good deal of time thinking about this over the holiday and have come to quite an unnerving conclusion.

Trump’s skills

When thinking about this question, we have to look at the bigger picture in order to assess Trump’s motives. One mistake Trump’s opponents have made over the years is underestimating his intelligence — or at least his unique skill set. I do not operate on the assumption that Trump is an idiot, and I think there are often unseen calculations he makes that the left doesn’t latch onto until it is too late. I have learned over the years of watching Trump that he has two key skills: The first is understanding his base, and the second is understanding the innate weakness of Republican politicians. This admittedly narrow set of talents has allowed Trump to do truly extraordinary things. He might have the attention span of a flea and have no intellectual interests outside of making money, but he has bent the GOP to his will and created a cult like movement completely impervious to logic, reason, or basic morality.

His darling daughter (possession) didn't marry Tom Brady like TFG wanted. She converted to Judaism and married a Modern Orthodox Jew.

Well, that bothered TFG, but Jared was useful in getting the Jewish vote and Jewish donations.

Now, TFG suspects that Jared blew the proverbial whistle on the documents that he hid at Mar-A-Lago. Add to that, Ivanka has said No to her father regarding helping his campaign and returning to the White House. Same with Jared.

And in the true Freudian Defense Mechanism of Transference of Hostility, Trump has no filter and is free to be the Antisemite In Chief. Oh, he hates Jews already, but this is to get even with Jared and Ivanka.

He responded what if you think you have the ultimate answer for everything, e.g., life, death, love, conflict, salvation -- and your ultimate answer is rebuffed and rejected? Then you become bitter and angry.

I responded that if I had the "ultimate" answer for everything and nobody wanted to listen or consider my thesis, that would be all right with me.

The rabbi counter-responded that not everyone thought as I did and they felt they had invested a great deal to promote their righteousness.

to know who/what he is. Whoever is last in his ear is who he is. He's had Jewish people in his orbit for years. Michael Cohen was a long-time fixer/attorney for him. Steven Miller, a self-hating Jew was in his cabinet and is still in his cabal. And what about Weisselberg, his treasurer?

The man is easily manipulated and thinks he's the one doing the manipulating.

...that his most successful play over and over again has been sucking all of the air out of the room and dominating the news cycle on every channel. He doesn't care if the stories are good or bad as long as anyone who turns on any TV or radio station or reads a news article gets all Trump news all the time. If he's all anyone is talking about then he can't lose in his opinion.

But Trump didn't create that situation. He simply offered the option. And he was elected by the Republican voting base, because that's the option they fucking wanted. Trump's presidency wasn't created by Trump. It was created by the people who chose him, out of a wide field of other assholes. When Nazi was on the menu, most Republicans chose Nazi. The Republican base voted for him because they want to be Nazis. Or, to be Nazis without being "Nazis." They don't want the historical baggage of that name, obviously. They just want everything else. Conservatives always want to be Nazis. They're always waiting for an excuse they think will give them permission. That's what the right wing echo chamber does for them. They're giving themselves permission, and they are ratcheting it up. Seeing what they can get away with, what their own people will let them get away with. Maybe they won't end up at "Nazi." But they'll end up something similar, another brand of pure fascist. Half of them are already there.

tRump admires authoritarian figures. He admires Hitler, period. If he could create that kind of chaos and cruelty among our general population, he would relish it.

Kanye West visited tRump in the White House--or was it tRump Towers, in the very beginning of his pResidency. The only surprising thing is to read that West has apparently criticized tRump. tRump gets even for the most trivial stuff, and I suspect that is the end of that association. I wonder what brought that on.

I was watching a tRump speech on YouTube recently, and tRump called Capone "the great gangster." He just admires men who force their will on others. He also likes to bully women.

Why is Melania still with him?

(I don't feel like signing up for a free trial to find out). Personally, I think Mr. Bill's answer in reply #5 sounds likely - he wants to keep the violent thugs on his side, since he needs to intimidate people and disrupt the election process.
