I think he could because political wise, DeSantis would look like a hero to MAGA world. But on the other hand it would make Trump stronger.

(2,493 posts)because for desatan to win it must have meant that the majority of Maga voted for him. He wouldn't need to earn their vote.

(10,365 posts)... let's hope DeSantis never has the opportunity... but, you've hit upon the answer. If politically it helps DeSantis win a 2nd term, yes; if not, no.

I think (as of now). It would greatly strengthen Trump, and I could so see an 82 year old Trump making a shitshow in the 2028 election. Trump is definitely more than capable of biting the hand that feeds him, he is a monster with no boundaries or limits when it comes to his personal power and wealth.

(4,815 posts)from any Republican that might be elected president in 2024 and that includes the little Nazi from Florida. There will probably always be a hardcore group (25%) of base Trump lovers who will cling onto him forever and their support will always be needed.

(3,817 posts)I don't believe most independents have completely lost their minds. They see that tfg has turned himself into a comic book villain, Super Nero. I don't believe it would be a net gain. Without the I's DeSatanic stays in florida.
That said it is, early days.

(2,553 posts)I don't think if he was elected he would want to start off his term with a political distraction.
Also, if he wins, he beats Trump, and I don't think Trump is going to be exactly polite if that would happen.

(4,515 posts)to have Тяцмp bow out of the race and throw his weight behind Desantis. That is Тяцмps best option. He can likely beat Desantis in the primary, but his chances in the GE are pretty grim. If hes convinced the long con is finally over, thats the option hell choose - sell his base/cult for a get out of jail card.
