Yes, much too many on DU who hate not only Texas, but the DFW Metroplex
Oh, yeah, congratulations on TCUs victory over Michigan. They will play for the college football championship on Monday the 9th.

(7,646 posts)is truly a Cinderella story. After Georgia's escape from OSU last night I suspect they will be hard to beat in the Championship game but you just never know.

(16,298 posts)I dont like the politics of the elected. I watched the last few minutes of the game and couldnt believe it. Never underestimate the underdog. Another reason I was hoping for Beto to win...next time..

They played an amazing game!
Hynotoads, came to win, and win they did!

The overlap of Futurama and the fandom of football thats a tight little Venn diagram, said Eric Kaplan, the television writer whose germ of an idea was fleshed out by his collaborators into the Hypnotoad. He described himself as stoked about the characters second act as a pigskin meme.
That the fans of T.C.U. have taken a character who I created, and theyre sampling it and remixing it, and its become part of their emotional and athletic lives its amazing, Kaplan said in a phone interview from Romania, where he was vacationing.

(66,436 posts)I dont hate Texas. I hate what it has become. I hate what it probably was when I was a kid growing up in San Antonio, but was too young and dumb to know.
I hate that people embrace the ludicrous legends Texans made up about their states history, instead of embracing the keys to the future: the Johnson Space Center, Austins vibrant music culture, and some of the finest universities in the country.

(102,331 posts)I watched the post-game coverage for both games, with the obligatory interviews of all coaches for all four schools and they were all gracious winners or losers, congratulated their opponents on their play, and critiqued their own, even if they were the winners. ALL four coaches did so.
Then just before I tuned out, ESPN interviewed Saban (AL, in case there is anyone who doesn't know him by now) and while AL mowed over Kansas State 45-20 in the Sugar Bowl, all he could do is lash out at the powers that be who refused to bump AL up into the playoffs, despite their 11-2 record in comparison to two powerhouses that remained undefeated (UGA and MI) and TCU, who had lost their last game by ONE POINT against ranked TENN and Ohio State whose one loss had come AGAINST undefeated #2 MI). He was just like Trump--blaming everyone and saying nothing nice about anyone, arguing that their schedule was so much more difficult than those in the playoffs and the usual BS. I have always admired AL, despite their being a major competitor to UGA in the SEC, but under SABAN? I hope they lose every game hereon. I don't know if he's a MAGAT, but he sure acts like one. Uggh.

Oh and Saban is not a MAGAT. He is a fairly decent Dem.

(102,331 posts)by a single field goal in overtime. Point taken. Still, hardly a case to be made that AL should have bumped its way into the top four. But, Saban is known for that kind of Trump-like self-centeredness. He fronts good teams, but he's a poor sport when he loses and frankly is the outlier among the best coaches, fortunately. Still, I'm relieved that he's not a Trump supporter as you say. Definitely distinguishes him in comparison to his once-Auburn coach comparison, Tuberville.

(7,284 posts)to see congratulations to a christian institution on DU's General Discussion got my attention, thinking the "congrats" term was being used sarcastically, but then reading the bit on the jibe of DU hating Christians seem to be the point.
to each their own, however all religions are cults in varying degrees to me. Some I do honestly hate, and others I'm rather agnostic about until the corruption is exposed and their support for lunatics to run our country or be appointed to our courts is found out.
