Rep.-elect Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-Fla.) hasnt been sworn in to Congress yet, but hes already doing one of his unofficial duties: clapping back at bad-faith tweets posted by the Republican Party.
It happened after Frost did an interview with ABCs Jonathan Karl that discussed, among other things, the challenges the former gun control advocate and part-time Uber driver has faced trying to find affordable housing in Washington.
Earlier this month, he said his application to rent an apartment in the District of Columbia was rejected due to his bad credit score.
Although Frost will earn $174,000 as a congressman, that wont kick in until weeks after hes sworn into office.

(42,714 posts)Guess who sleeps in his or her office to save having to rent a place . Lots of republicans, including (according to this 2018 report) a certain Kevin McCarthy. Edited to add BBC a second, older story in which a number of republicans defend sleeping in their offices.

(28,820 posts)As a landlord, Ive seen many with bad credit. If theyhave a history of failure to pay rent, then thats a problem.
Medical, student loan? Or poor choices?
Many times I accepted a co-signer with credit approval. Maybe do that for the few weeks until payday.
Just because someone is going to be paid well doesnt mean they are credit worthy either. Credit history is a real thing. Something young people learn the hard way.
Yes we landlords are a hard lot.
