Robert Reich: There is no labor shortage. There is a living wage shortage, a hazard pay shortage,

a child care shortage, a paid sick leave shortage, and a health care shortage.

Does a new year mean we can settle this debate and finally treat workers with dignity?

Nope, because the system relies on forced scarcity & inequity, and the system protects itself. HTH! WhiskeyGrinder Jan 2023 #4

I couldn’t imagine getting zero income. That’s got to be awful.

That economists, bankers, and the investor class want to create more unemployment, but at the same time decry any sort of government aid to the unemployed.

If I think it not worth my time/effort/overhead to do or make something, unless I am desperate, I won't produce. I retired early before the pandemic because the hassle of the commute, stress of the job and scatter brained leadership I had to deal with simply made working more of a hassle than it was worth. I "quiet quit" even before that and before it was fashionable. It allowed us to downsize, get rid of a car and a bunch of other overhead associated with my work and found out how much could be saved by NOT working. It was quite illuminating and rewarding.
