Could retaliation be the reason Republicans want to retain Jan 6 Committee documents?

Bennie G. Thompson and Liz Cheney are trying to protect witnesses that have testified to the Committee by getting the documents put into the National Archives. This is evident in a letter to
Mr. Richard A. Sauber, Special Counsel to the President dated December 30, 2022:

As of next week when the Committee dissolves, the Committee will no longer exercise control over this material, and thus cannot ensure enforcement of the commitment to maintain the confidentiality of the identity of the witnesses. Pursuant to long-standing House rules, the official records of the Committee will be archived and pass into the control of the National Archives. We fully share [...] concern for the safety, security, and reputations of
our witnesses.

The target isn't revenge. The target is destroying the DOJ's ability to convict anyone of anything. This is why the DOJ's slow pace has been so disastrous. There was a virtual certainty of a two year deadline, and the DOJ refused to act as if that were true.

Jared had a royally screwed up real estate investment, and a massive payment was due of 150 million that he didn't have or didn't want to spend..............

He got on a Gov't jet, along with his secret service detail and flew down to the Saudis head guy, left a briefcase, got back on the plane with his 150 million dollar "loan, investment, or whatever phony name you want to call it", and came directly back to the U.S. to make the payment just days before it was due.

The head of the saudis for some strange reason "disappeared" several members of their family, and several of the higher level staff members that next week.

The Trump's were taking tons of our intel, and selling it for massive amounts of money to the highest bidder. Then the Saudi's made a 2 billion dollar investment to jared's new, non existent investment firm. My Thoughts on that????? The Saudi's would have loved to have gotten our intel, and other countries shared intel, on the Military capabilities, and nuclear capabilities of everyone in a few thousand mile radius of them...........

Oh and of course, everything we had in the way of intel, etc. was probably just given away for free to Putin. That goes without saying...

You gotta believe that our entire intelligence community and our entire Military community were going bezerk when they realized that this was what Trump, Ivanka, Jared, etc etc were doing with our Top Secret information.....especially given our top enemy complete knowledge of OUR military including each and every nuclear weapon, and their location......

AND it wasn't just the Trump Clan, it was almost the entire Republican Senators that were in this up to their eyeballs.....along with who knows how many others in "Trump World"..............

Don’t think for a second that the the new GOP House Majority is not goin to spend every minute of the next congress not trying to “what about” every fucking thing they feel they have been unjustly subjected to by the out going Democrats. It’s going to be a constant 💩 show of hyperbolic drama from Jordan, Greene, bopeep, Gosar and the rest….and probably some retaliation also as they have already said they would do if given the majority back. The GOP has made many threats over the past 2 yrs about what they will do when they get the majority back or has everyone forgotten this. Boebert & Greene have both been very clear that they would retaliate if given an opportunity…that they now have. I still can’t believe that the majority in the House was lost,… maybe this is what is needed to wake the rest of the country up.

Dems spent the last 2 yrs doing what they could to get Justice for crimes committed but it has to be just horribly dejecting when they see the apathy of the citizenry over what the GOP has done. It’s one thing to disagree with a policy and have debates where mature people eventually find compromise and get some forward progress going on an issue, that’s fine but when you pick up arms against your fellow countrymen simply because of a differing POV you have gone way too far and should no longer be involved in any debate. You should be in a court room defending yourself not getting ready to chair the House Justice Committee especially given the serious allegations from a previous college coaching job.
