Don Bacon would work with Dems to elect moderate speaker if McCarthy bid falls short

Opinion piece by Don Bacon explaining this possibility:

https://dailycaller.com/2023/01/02/opinion-if-mccarthys-speaker-bid-fails-democrats-might-have-to-be-part-of-the-process-rep-don-bacon/

It’s going to be very close if indeed the supposed defectors follow through with their promises (and if 11 out 434 vote “present” then the Dems could actually win the speaker vote 212-211). I wonder how likely a coalition type scenario could be? Surely the hardliners would flinch before that becomes nearly a reality. Don Bacon is chair of the more moderate Main Street gop caucus. If the vote goes sour for McCarthy, they have enough votes(13) to be kingmaker . 🤔

By Don Bacon. I originally posted the first article because of my hesitancy posting from the daily caller. But since it is purely from don bacon himself, I figured it would be okay.

I want him to lose. Maybe the few moderate Republicans can come to a deal with the Democrats. It would be a good start for possible bipartisan legislation in this Congress.

make a sane House.

We should have been pounding this relentlessly since the election to make it happen.
