Is it SO outrageous that a few Republicans would caucus with Democrats that it's not worth...

...pundits EVER bringing up the idea?

I realize it's not very likely at all, but given plenty of time to babble on air, pundits often speculate about all kinds of hypothetical weird shit.

Why is this idea considered so very far out there it doesn't ever come up at all (not that I've heard, at least)?

I think, for their own prospects, a small handful of Republicans from swing districts would have their personal reelection chances improve going along with such a coalition. And the country sure as hell would be better off.

Plus, there have got to be a bunch of Republicans who despise the "freedom caucus" and who don't want a final resolution that empowers the craziest of their crazies.

I don't think it will ever happen. CentralMass Jan 2023 #1
Nor do I, but the chances go up if people merely talk like it's possible Silent3 Jan 2023 #2
I agree. Unlikely as it is, we should have been pounding it since Election Day. Scrivener7 Jan 2023 #3
Yep. Things like this certainly don't become more possible if you won't even bring it up. Silent3 Jan 2023 #5

It seems a strategic mistake to skip a least floating the idea.

Open that Overton window a little wider in the right direction!
