Pelosi's advice for GOP House Negotiations: "I think you would need a doctor or a psychiatrist"

“What level of insanity would you put on somebody who would want to be—a historic loss…it’s really sad. I don’t even understand it. Given any version of it. I think you would need a doctor or a psychiatrist”

hell. Relying on TV, cable or online news results in a very distorted version of what journalism is supposed to be.

WaPo: House speaker chaos brings glee and gloom for national security state
- For some officials, the gridlock is a nightmarish preview of budget battles to come. For others, it’s a moment of comedy relief.
- “It’s not just the Democrats laughing,” House Republican Michael Waltz (Fla.) told Fox Business on Wednesday. “It’s the Chinese Communist Party, the Russians, the North Koreans, the Iranians who are pointing to democracy and calling it dysfunctional, saying you better side with us and not this form of government.”

NYT: Speaker Quest Reveals McCarthy’s Tenuous Grip on an Unruly Majority
- As the Republican leader has made concessions to the far right, he has effectively agreed to give them carte blanche to disrupt the workings of the House — and to hold him hostage to their demands.
-The recipe for the chaos already existed: A toxic combination of the Republicans’ slim governing majority, an unyielding hard-right flank that disdains the normal operations of government and a candidate for speaker who has repeatedly bowed to that flank in his quest for power.

Not only was McCarthy well aware of Trump being "Russian Dirty" in 2016 but he really is a
nasty piece of work. I hope he is suffering.

CNN — (August 2, 2021)

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy joked at a Saturday night event that it “will be hard not to hit” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with the speaker’s gavel if Republicans take control of the chamber in the 2022 midterms and he becomes speaker.

“I want you to watch Nancy Pelosi hand me that gavel. It will be hard not to hit her with it,” McCarthy said in audio posted to Twitter by a Main Street Nashville reporter.

The Republican leader made the comments after he was handed an oversized gavel by members of the Tennessee congressional delegation while appearing at a fundraising event in the state. His remarks are just the latest sign of his deteriorating relationship with the Democratic leader, who was not present at the event.

with the ridiculous concessions that McCarthy has made to the cabal of insurrectionists, which I believe includes important committee assignments and leadership roles. Is this true? Why would a different nominee have to abide by someone else’s negotiations?

I really do not understand why so many Republicans who might be considered moderates (for example, the 22 elected in districts Biden won) when he is giving away their rights to radicals whose sole purpose in the House is to cause chaos and try to use the legislative process to destroy the government. They need to choose a new nominee and start voting foe that person, making it clear to McCarthy that he never be speaker. He will be blackmailed into concession after concession if he were to become speaker.

The Anarchists versus the Anachronistic.

While they bicker about who is the more despicable, America loses half of its legislative function.

Sad to say, the voters who breathed life into this disaster are watching this like a college football game in October, irreverant and undaunted. Makes the grown up in me vomit in my mouth.
