It's far from what Trump and his team did, which was refuse to cooperate, obstruct, finally relent and turn some over, and THEN the authorities had to execute a search warrant to search the premises where they uncovered even more withheld classified materials.

If Trump had done what Biden did, he wouldn't even be under investigation right now.

Why is that so many well-meaning DUers have absolutely zero concept about so many matters in the federal judicial process, one of which is that the prosecution doesn't push for indictment UNLESS YOU'RE PRETTY DAMN SURE YOU CAN CONVICT! This ridiculous impatience speaks to the pitchfork-and-torches approach to the unhinged on both sides. (Of course, now I'll be accused of "both-siderism" and an insane lack of perspective on how different these cases are, blah, blah, blah ... )

https://apnews.com/article/biden-politics-united-states-government-812ef44a5333f6d93423a67a683fa024

Special counsel to the president Richard Sauber said “a small number of documents with classified markings” were discovered as Biden’s personal attorneys were clearing out the offices of the Penn Biden Center, where the president kept an office after he left the vice presidency in 2017 until shortly before he launched his 2020 presidential campaign in 2019. The documents were found on Nov. 2, 2022, in a “locked closet” in the office, Sauber said.

Sauber said the attorneys immediately alerted the White House Counsel’s office, who notified the National Archives and Records Administration — which took custody of the documents the next day.

“Since that discovery, the President’s personal attorneys have cooperated with the Archives and the Department of Justice in a process to ensure that any Obama-Biden Administration records are appropriately in the possession of the Archives,” Sauber said.

A person who is familiar with the matter but not authorized to discuss it publicly said Attorney General Merrick Garland asked U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois John Lausch to review the matter after the Archives referred the issue to the department. John Lausch was appointed to his post by former President Donald Trump. ensure that any Obama-Biden Administration records are appropriately in the possession of the Archives,” Sauber said.

...to try to appear fair and impartial, even if they don't need to be.

Case in point, if Trump had acted like the Biden team had in regard to their POTENTIALLY classified information, Trump wouldn't even be under investigation right now. How many times did the DOJ and NARA give Trump and his team to give them all their withheld classified information before they even began a serious investigation into him?

Once again, in trying to come off as non-political, the DOJ is unfairly treating Democrats in a way they haven't -- and won't -- treat Republicans.

the DOJ is not partisan..and, yes, the US attorney Garland assigned to this is a 2017 Trump appointee but he is was not asked to resign when Biden took office..also many of the judges on the various appeals courts that have ruled against Trump's frivolous lawsuits have been Trump appointees..Biden has to get out in front of this..invite reporters to ask questions when he get back..

I much prefer Trump be indicted on sedition/inciting an insurrection rather than the MAL document theft...a coup to overthrow the government of the United States is heinous and unfathomable and Trump has to be held seriously accountable..
