I'm truly confused as to how much destruction McCarthy and the Freedom Caucus crazies can accomplish with the slim majority. To avoid catastrophic scenarios, some Republicans will have to vote with the Democrats. The author of the article thinks they will.

(59,504 posts)Even if McCarthy could pass bills like Pelosi did, instead of passing the Senate, the hard part last Congress, and being signed into law by Biden. Most of what McCarthy passes will be DOA in the Senate.

(32,748 posts)The thing that could change EVERYTHING is what happens if the colluding Repukes get indicted - and I'm talking about McCarthy along with the others. If they do get indicted and if some should resign, well that's a complete game changer.
It's the best we could hope for right now.

Seems the (un)Freedom Caucus is going to hold his speakership hostage if he tries to raise the debt ceiling with Dem help.
