Much of the material I and others post from it is NOT available elsewhere. The forum rules allow posting from it. I've seen no indication from admin that that's going to change. I don't believe there's a majority among active DUers for any sort of ban. You can test that with a poll (again - it's been done before) if you wish.

Many of those of us who post from Twitter do our damnedest to comply with etiquette by copying the text and images as a courtesy for those who can't or don't want to view the tweets directly. When the moans just continue regardless, why do we bother?

I also care about what a wide range of people in my own country, Scotland, are thinking and going through, which would be difficult if not impossible to access by any other means. I'm damned if Musk's antics are going to deprive me of that and access to the community that's there.

My browsing Twitter in the way I do does nothing for Musk's income. His ads are blocked. I never tweet. I'm effectively a free rider. When I choose to post something from Twitter on DU, I'm selective in what I post, and I flag it in my post title. If that's not good enough, tough.
