73% of Asian-Americans voted for Obama

One of the under-reported stories in this election was the Asian vote. As big Ed's statistics just showed, more Asians were favorable to Obama (73%) than even Hispanics (71%). I worked for over 16 years in Alhambra, California (known as new Chinatown) in a Chinese law firm practicing immigration law. I saw many Chinese-Americans supporting George Bush in 2000 because the word was out that he would lower taxes. This time around, I honestly couldn’t find anyone in the law firm or among any Chinese-American friends and acquaintances who had anything good to say about Romney. They understand that the Republicans are no friends of the immigrant community.

I applaud the Asian-American community for doing its part in giving President Obama this great victory.

many times those from communist countries vote republican just because of that one issue. but their kids and those who came here at a young age are less likely to do so and tend to be more liberal. this is true of cuban americans also .

also China is not truly communist these days and a lot of the crap republicans support is the same crap china does with their labor violations , corrupt big businesses etc.

She's very liberal and absolutely loved Clinton. The employees come from all over the Chinese diaspora; mainland China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and the United States. Most of the clients are from the mainland and their Chinese-American families and sponsors were altogether anti-Romney. I think it had as much to do with the Republican anti-immigrant attitude, as the economy that crumbled under Bush, as well as the fear that Romney would start a trade war with China.

i do think all the attacks on obama and kenya stuff turns off all other minorities. because they are clearly claiming Obama can't be american because he isn't white.

The Korean shop owners my wife used to work for never failed to tell me how much they loved my Obama 08 shirt whenever I wore it.

There are also figures that break out Indian-Americans (meaning origins from India), and it showed that they overwhelming supported Obama as well.

i noticed there were a lot of indian americans at Obama events.

most of the indian americans who supported romney were old corrupt business types. many involved in the economic collapse 4 years ago.

I know, because my daughter, although not Chinese, attended fulltime a Christian Chinese School for two years (her choice).....
and I remember seeing a picture of Bush up in the office and the "No Child Left Behind" posters in the hallways!

We must, however, remember that Obama did have an Indonesian step-father, has a 1/2 Indonesian sister,
and lived in Indonesia. He also has a Chinese-Canadian Brother in law, and two beautiful Asian Nieces.
In addition, Obama was born and raised in Hawaii...

Beyond that, I believe that he has appointed more Asian-American to high level cabinet posts....
more than any President before him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he nominates an Asian-American judge to the Supreme court next....

So there are quite a few reason, beyond policies, that many Asians see themselves in Barack Obama
more than any other President before him.

The Prez and one of his nieces here....
