"SNIP.......

“Speaker Kevin McCarthy has backed his fellow Republicans into a corner with one of the promises he made to his far-right flank to land his job: opening the door to considering fringe legislation that would replace the income tax with a federal sales tax and abolish the IRS,” Politico reports.

“Most GOP members appear determined to distance themselves as much as possible from the idea and McCarthy himself said this week he doesn’t support the legislation. But Democrats aren’t going to let the issue die quietly. They’ve been more than happy to use it as a cudgel to portray Republicans as dangerous radicals.”

.........SNIP"

They're willing to burn the house down to get what they want using extortionist threats.

We cannot appease or negotiate with the MAGA fringe or those quietly complicit in the hostage taking, nor should we allow the issue to die or make excuses for the inexcusable.

These people are lying terrorists. Call them out for what they are.

Off topic: I read that Chuckles went after Jim Jordon today pushing back against the man's disinformation. The press, pundits, talking heads and journalist class need to start doing this on a regular basis.

There are no two sides to these issues and acting as if there were is not objectivity. It's lazy, destructive reporting on a bunch of nihilists hellbent on destroying our democratic institutions.

Including the free press.

You never know with our dumbass media. They try to pretend legal marijuana is unpopular although less and less so because it’s just so damn obvious now that most people want it.

30% of sales tax across board. They (I'm assuming your employer thru the state and federal level) will take nothing out of your paycheck. You get the gross/full amount with no deductions, including, but not limited to, SS, Medicare and others. Scratches head.

Plus I am sure that no GOPer for this thought so far as to realize if consumption is voluntarily curtailed by consumers for any period of time, cash flow to the government decreases commensurately. Not good for bond ratings and such. Morons!
