CBS's Margaret BRENNAN doesn't take guff, pins weasel McCARTHY
Have been tuning away from ABC (Martha RADDATZ, Jonathan KARL) and over to CBS Margaret BRENNAN. My wingnut radar has been pinging for years on the ABC two, although there've been a couple of their fans here insisting they aren't wingnuts. It goes far beyond the Afghanistan withdrawal when RADDATZ was raining brimstone on BIDEN for months, she's always had this edge on her shaving down on Dems and plumping up wingnuts in interviewing. Her Wiki lists Lib leaning cred, at least in her marriages, one to Watergate buster BRADLEY's son, another one where OBAMA attended. Maybe she leans harder on Dems in public in defensiveness against wingnuts pigeonholing her as Lib. As for KARL, I've long said he's filling the erstwhile Brit HUME chair at ABC (before Faux), who was the de facto B.F.E.E. consigliere. KARL used to make any opportunity to laud the BUSHes, on one Father's Day gratuitously featuring a video of Poppy and closing with calling Poppy "the father of the nation."
NOTE to RADDATZ (and Richard ENGEL) : Troop withdrawals are *HARD* - cf., Saigon. You only get a table signing at Appomattox or Versailles or the USS Missouri, not in WITHDRAWALs.
In no way do I want an echo chamber instead of chips-fall journalism. But would like my hackles not be raised by Both Siderism and unctuous deference to wingnuts or whatever it is that RADDATZ gives me. KARL is just blatant.
In 50 years, I've stayed away from CBS, even when CRONKITE was a target for wingnuts, just too ponderous or top-down or something. HUNTLEY-BRINKLEY at NBC just seemed more relatable (younger?), and imagine my disappointment when BRINKLEY ended up being a wingnut - at ABC, a pattern? I liked RATHER during Watergate. *Nobody* like JENNINGS, matchless.
My network watching has drained down to a trickle in recent years - although an ABC trickle - suffered the Diane SAWYER years and MUIR is passable.
But can't take RADDATZ-KARL with their Chris CHRISPY and our useless Donna BRAZILE (useless since 2000). Lately have been impressed with BRENNAN.

CBS’s Margaret Brennan took House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to task with an intense questioning over Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s conspiratorial Covid claims.
Brennan interviewed McCarthy on Sunday for Face The Nation, where the two collided over his elevation of election-denying GOP congressmen after his excruciating bid for the speakership. Since Greene was a key ally in McCarthy’s Speaker bid, Brennan asked about his appointing Greene to a new House select committee for investigating the origins of the coronavirus pandemic. ....
“She compared mask requirements to the type of abuse Jews were subjected to during the Holocaust,” Brennan noted. “She called for [Anthony] Fauci to be arrested and imprisoned, and she spread conspiracy theories. How is anyone supposed to take that work seriously and find that work credible?” ....
