“Southern Democrats are banding together to urge President Joe Biden to select Atlanta for the 2024 Democratic National Convention, arguing the choice would solidify the party’s gains in Georgia and demonstrate commitment to the entire region,” NBC News reports.

“Atlanta is one of the three finalists to host the convention, along with New York City and Chicago.”

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports more than 60 officials signed a letter saying that picking Atlanta for the prestigious event will “inspire Democrats in other competitive states to run, to organize, to fundraise and to volunteer in what is now truly fertile Democratic territory.”

3. It's a valid view and may help in FL where we lost more than we would have liked.

Of course with the Dem losses in NY, the NYC idea has similar validity. I'd probably vote for Atlanta over NYC, Chicago or anything in CA. I wonder how much convention city REALLY affects the bottom line-- voting. I can see the getting more and better regional candidates angle somewhat.

5. I'd go with Atlanta. I'd think the party in NYC can correct itself.

But solidifying GA would be huge.

DeSantis could turn some unwitting white housewives of the Atlanta suburbs back to the GOP. (And I’m white. I have no faith in my white counterparts - I credit African Americans - women in particular - with saving America in 2020).
