if not in the US, across the globe.

I was way ahead of my time back in the late nineties complaining about the smaller jars and rising prices. Same goes for Kraft miracle Whip. Stopped making my Philly potato salad because of Miracle Whip prices. Don't even miss it. Learned to do without a lot of stuff during and after the pandemic. The gougers can take their shit and stuff it!

(7,423 posts)Walmart seems to have these special reduced size versions of brand products (not sure about Hellmans). They use a lot of leverage on their suppliers to cave to these pinchpenny requests.

(21,575 posts)Miracle whip is $5 where I live. I bought the store brand for half that. It was maybe $3.something a year ago??? We wanted turkey sandwiches for dinner this week and the miracle whip cost more than the bakery loaf of sourdough I bought!!!!! I just can't justify paying that much for something I'm going to use about 3 tablespoons worth on a couple sandwiches.

(4,298 posts)All fruit juices, especially orange in bottles that look like the 64 oz or 32 oz bottles but are only 59 or 52 oz for higher prices. Same with ice cream, most can goods, cereals, and baking goods. The packaging looks the same but the contents are from 2 to 6 oz less.

Yet 40 years on after being taught how to do it, I can't. Emmylu wasn't a bad teacher, perhaps I was a bad student. Or my hand blenders weren't right while her fork was.

The furore started when Hellmanns, represented and imported in South Africa by the multinational product group Unilever, tweeted: "Its hard to say goodbye to delicious Hellmanns Mayonnaise. But due to high inflationary import costs, we will be discontinuing Hellmans in South Africa."
Sounds like it's Hellmans" discontinuing the imports. And the complaints are about that.
From the OP:
The manager of one Spar supermarket with no stock of the mayonnaise, who would not give his name because he is not authorized to speak to media, told Fox News Digital: "We cant get Hellmanns from our central warehouse anymore. Its strange, because it has been selling but there is locally produced competition."
