"I am determined to start the case on time," the judge, state Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, told 15 lawyers and legal support staff in a Manhattan courtroom.
"Come hell or high water, and pardon my French," the judge added of his set-in-stone trial start time: 10 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2023.

Teflon Man just loves Delay, Delay, Delay, so I guess we'll see if the trial even starts in 2023. And if it doesn't, I'm sure you'll be at the ready with your "Law & Order" comparison.

(94,591 posts)...we no longer start the trial as soon as the sheriff drags the cattle rustler into town and the judge can make his way from the territorial capital.
All Courts (Federal and State; criminal and civil) have procedures and filing schedules to ensure the rights of all parties, whether or not they're billionaires. That adds time to the judicial process.
Let me suggest you start listening to the OPENING ARGUMENTS podcast, which spends a lot of time on the various Trump cases, and explains how the legal system actually works
