(5,401 posts)If the gentlemen who wrote the second amendment realised that much later, America would have a standing, well equipped army with no possibility of invasion of US soil by a foreign power, they may have realised that the second amendment was appropriate for their time, but was definitely a time limited thing?
Add the fact that a country filled with people armed for war (*) would inevitably turn the guns on each other, they would jump at the chance to delete the second amendment altogether or at least add a rider to it about it being appropriate to the current circumstances, and became null and void when things changed.

Bullet proof underwear would be better as a defence, surely?
