NY: Nate McMurray announces bid for Erie County Executive

Former Grand Island town supervisor and Western New York Democratic congressional candidate Nate McMurray has announced his bid for Erie County executive.

In a Facebook post, McMurray outlined a few issues he plans to campaign on. Those include a promise to serve no more than two terms and to host town hall meetings.

McMurray also highlighted disagreements with how the county's current administration handled the blizzard in December and its deal for a new Bills stadium.

"We cannot fear change," McMurray said in a press release. "The current county executive has held county-wide elected office for nearly 20 years, and he’s planning to run again...and thus, in the spirit of democracy and open debate, I am giving the people of Erie County a choice."

McMurray would challenge incumbent Democrat Mark Poloncarz, should he decide to run again.
