ALERT: WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH 10 PM EST THURSDAY...WIND CHILL WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM EST THURSDAY THROUGH NOON EST SUNDAY
A powerful cold front will cross the region, producing extremely cold temperatures and dangerously low wind chill values over this forecast period. High pressure tracking east away from the region may create a brief period of partial clearing at the summit Thursday. Southwesterly flow on the backside of the departing ridge will allow for more seasonable temperatures Thursday. The summit will quickly become shrouded in fog by Thursday evening with light snow showers developing. Strong forcing on the leading edge of the front and a sufficient supply of low-level moisture will lead snow showers to become more widespread overnight Thursday, with the possibility of heavy snowfall at times during the night. Winds will rapidly increase and significantly colder air will usher into the region with the passage of the frontal boundary Thursday night. Strong northwesterly winds paired with frigid temperatures will make the air feel even colder on exposed skin, increasing the risk of frostbite and hypothermia. A wind chill warning will replace an advisory at 10 pm on Thursday due to the extreme cold conditions, with the wind chill warning remaining in effect through Sunday as temperatures continue to drop. Temperatures will quickly drop to around 25 below zero by early Friday morning and will continue to fall through the day, with summit temperatures nearing 40 below by the evening. Temperatures will fall even further into Friday night with wind speeds nearing or exceeding 100 mph. The dangerously cold conditions and elevated winds will produce wind chill values as low as 100 below to 110 below Friday night.

Luckily, this is only a 2 day frozen nightmare, then we're back to normal cold.

People work up there and there is both a road and a cog railroad that go up there. I've ridden a van to the observatory. It's an interesting place.

My house has views of Mt. Washington and 50 mile views out to the Bigelow Mt. range. Which means that I'll get a full frontal assault by the wind....
