https://politicalwire.com/2023/02/02/kyrsten-sinema-rakes-in-cash-from-wall-street/Sen. Kyrsten Sinema raked in campaign cash from corporate leaders at the end of last year as she prepared for a potential high-stakes 2024 reelection bid in the battleground state of Arizona, CNBC reports.
Sinema, a centrist swing vote in the narrowly split Senate, switched her party affiliation from Democrat to independent in December. Real estate and private equity leaders, who have long helped to fill Sinemas campaign coffers, contributed to a healthy cash haul for the senator in the final months of last year.

(6,092 posts)Its sickening. All of the politicians, media, donors all the time in campaign mode. The money flies all over the place and the only work getting done is for the ones throwing all the money around!!!! No one should be allowed to campaign until 3 months before an election and they should be government funded. No bought candidates!!!!

(6,092 posts)to run but cant declare officially, cant raise money and cant buy ads does not lose their free speech; it just sets rule about campaigning and raising money. We already have rules. Two years out is ridiculous!!!

(94,594 posts)Restricting the registration date for a campaign doesn't stop a prospective candidate from forming an "issues" PAC (again, that first Amendment), which can pay for travel to send the prospective candidate to, say, the New Hampshire State Party Dinner as a speaker, or an issues conference or a book tour.
In 2012, (four years out) I was at the Convention in Charlotte, and it was easy to see why politicians were laying the groundwork for a campaign in 2016. I even had a one-on-one discussion with one of them. Nothing you could think of would have stopped them.
Those "short" campaign seasons that everyone claims to love about European nations frequently include the Parties choosing the candidate(s) without involvement by the rank and file members. Would that be a better strategy?

Please Arizona vote her out in 2024. She must get a lot of pact money because in Arizona they run have these pro Sinema aids even though shes not up for re election for another 2 years.
